Style Crush: Iggy Azalea

One of our fave new music (soon-to-be) superstars is Iggy Azalea. This Australian rapper looks like Grace Kelly, but her lyrics are so raw they’d make Ol’ Dirty Bastard blush. Plus, not only do we love her unique sense of style, but we are definitely feeling her in your face ‘tude. To celebrate Azalea’s upcoming album, The New Classic, as well as the fact that she  is awesome, we’re offering you a post dedicated to all things Iggy, including some images that totally got the Instagram treatment- enjoy! Oh, and finally, our stylist even pulled together an Iggy Azalea-inspired look.

How to: Wear Denim in the Summer

Denim is a quintessential American staple and as such, you aren’t exactly surprised when it shows up on everything from jackets to formal wear (we’re talking to you, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake circa 2001). But, figuring out how to rock this potentially heavy fabric when temperatures creep towards triple digits can be a challenge. That’s why we’re showing you how to wear denim, in all sorts of unexpected ways, and we’re doing so with some of our favorite street style snaps.

Sneak Peek: Heel-less Platforms, Pt. II

You already know we love us some heel-less platforms because of their ability to instantly elevate any look to Lady Gaga levels of awesome, but recently, when we received two very different pairs of heel-less platforms, we got so excited we actually uttered the phrase, “Yippee!” So, do you wanna see the shoes that got us all sorts of excited? Well, do you?! Okay, if you insist…

What’s your favorite pair? Why?

Style Crush: Ashley Madekwe

We have totally been style crushing on actress Ashley Madekwe lately, and lucky for us, she has her very own style blog where we were able to stalk check out all her amazing outfits. The UK native has been acting for a while, but has recently blown up thanks to ABC’s hit show Revenge. Her eclectic sense of style is sometimes feminine, sometimes edgy, and always gorgeous. We love her incredible ability to mix designer pieces with vintage and cheaper items to achieve flawless looks that can easily stand the test of time. Madekwe is a genius when it comes to pairing accessories, but let’s face it – her gorgeous head of wavy hair is the only accessory she really needs.

Click here to see more of Ashley Madekwe’s looks and our GoJane version.

Luxe for Less: Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten Dunst has been on our pop culture radar for decades thanks to her portrayal of a juvenile vampire in Interview with the Vampire, as well as starring roles in Bring It On and Spider-Man. We’ve always been a fan of Dust as a result of her insistence on not conforming to Hollywood standards of beauty, as well as her unique sense of style, but lately this indie darling has taken bold risks we’re definitely obsessing over. Earlier this year, when we saw her in a Chloe jacket, a Dolce & Gabbana frock and shoes, and jewelry courtesy of Van Cleef and Arpels, we knew we had to recreate the look, without the designer price tag, of course. Her version runs in the thousands, but ours comes in at a very modest $161.

(collarless jacket, pleated sweetheart bodice dress, perforated contrast clutch, chain link hinge bracelet, skull ring snake clutch, and floral peep-toe wedges)

What did you think of Dunst’s look? What other celebs would you like to see get the Luxe for Less treatment?

Behind the Scenes: Girly Dresses + Ladylike Heels

Summer brings all sorts of exciting goodies in the form of boldly printed dresses and layered chiffon tanks. However, one trend we’re particularly enthused about this season is the return of pointy toe heels. We think of the return to this classic shape as a product of the Kate Middleton effect and couldn’t be more excited to welcome our pointy sole sisters back to the club. So, take a look at a few of the new things soon to pop up on the site and make sure to tell us what you’re loving.

How to: Wear Baroque

If you’ve been paying attention to the GoJane site lately, you’ve probably noticed the influx of items bearing the ‘baroque’ moniker. This name may initially lead you to vaguely remember something about 17th century, European art, but our version doesn’t have anything to do with Peter Paul Rubens or Josefa de Óbidos. Instead, when we call something baroque, we mean that it has ornamental features, including chains, animal print, and cut-out medallions. Ultimately, our version is all about the luxe, as can be demonstrated when you look at some of the peplum tops, dresses, and sunglasses popping up on the site. However, if you aren’t sure of how to do baroque, keep reading ’cause we’re gonna show you three very different looks.

(colorblock baroque maxi dress, textured oval necklace set, evil eye bead bracelet, abstract wooden bangle, skull and eye ring, and strappy velvet wedges)

MTV Movie Awards: A Recap of the Looks That Got Us Talking

If you didn’t have the chance to watch last night’s MTV Movie Awards, let us offer you a quick recap: people still really love Twilight, Kardashian jokes never grow old, and Charlie Sheen was in attendance. Unfortunately, we weren’t privy to some Kanye West-inspired shenanigans, but we did have the chance to see some of our fave celebs rock looks that will keep us talking for days. Of course, there were a flew flops and WTFs, but there were also tons of ensembles we can’t wait to try at home. So, without further ado, here are the good, the bad, and the hmmms of this year’s MTV Movie Awards.

The Good

Emma Stone, Charlize Theron, and Shailene Woodley

Why:
We are unabashed fans of peplums, and we suspect that our adoration is responsible for the serious swooning we did after seeing these three ladies rocking our go-to shape in new and unexpected ways.

Victoria Justice, Lucy Hale, and Kristen Stewart

Why:
All three of these lovely lasses picked bright hues that flattered their skin tone, as well as hightlighted their feminine figure.

Of course, not every look was a slam dunk…

Luxe for Less: Cassie

The Cannes International Film Festival may not seem like the obvious place to indulge in a bit of musical celebrity spotting. But, as pictures from the festival have trickled in, we kept noticing one woman: Cassie. This R&B songstress has continually impressed us, but the look we were definitely drooling over was her Salvatore Ferragamo jumpsuit and Givenchy kicks. Granted, at over $3,000 dollars, we knew we could never afford such a get-up and as such, got to creating our own. The result? A printed jumpsuit ensemble for a just over $105.

(leopard print sunglasses, colorful abstract jumpsuit, woven bangle set, studded handbag, and strappy low wedge sandal)

How to: Wear Cut-Outs (Without Showing Too Much Skin)

After a long week of barbecue and beach trips, it feels as if summer has officially began. Granted, that auspicious day doesn’t actually come until June 20, but with the rising mercury, we continue to maintain that the weather necessitates warm weather staples. But, we don’t believe in just throwing on a  cute tank  and denim cut-offs- we believe in looking hot in the heat with stylish duds. And you know what our fave way is to snag some easy style points? Clothes with cut-outs.  So, we put together a mini gallery of some super stylish girls with cut-outs, as well as had one of our stylists pull a few looks she thinks you’re gonna love. Take a look and make sure to let us know what you think.

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Preview: Nightclub Dresses and Arm Bling

When we go out on the town ( for research purposes, we swear) we often see girls strutting their stuff in some of our fave nightclub dresses. Today, when we saw our models lounging about in slinky, spike-encrusted sheaths, we knew we had to show you immediately:

Of course, we don’t just do sexy frocks- we’re also all about cute and girly tops, including this one:

Yes, that is one of our fabulous stylists making sure our model looks completely on trend with a chunky necklace, embellished denim, and a quirky, hinge bracelet.

So, what did you think?

Fashion Face-Off: Vintage Graphic Band Tees’ Edition

We’re unapologetically girly at GoJane, but sometimes you’re feeling more gutter punk than glamazon. If that’s the case, try slipping on a comfortable and slouchy graphic band tee for a cool look that can take you from the class to the rock ‘n roll club. We recently saw two of our favorite ladies, Ashley Madekwe and Kristen Stewart, wearing vintage music tees and we knew it was time for another fashion face-off. So, take a look and vote in our poll for your fave.

How to: Dress for Memorial Day

Regardless of if you choose a good ol’ fashioned BBQ, a night out with the girls, or a day at the beach, we have the perfect outfit for your Memorial Day. So, take a look and make sure to let us know what you’re doing May 28.

The Situation: Barbecue

(crop graphic american flag top, leather buckle satchel, threaded friendship bracelets, distressed frayed denim shorts, oversized dome ring, and microstud buckle booties)

Why it works:
Due to weather and the presence of a grill belching fire, you’ll undoubtedly be hot. The solution? Shorts and a cool patriotic tee. Plus, the vegan leather booties and satchel keep you looking polished, but not high-maintenance.

The Situation: Nightclub

(peplum two-fer dress, tiered chain necklace set, snakeskin ring handle clutch, faceted jewel ring, and colorblock heel-less platforms)

Why it works:
Bright color is a summer staple and this flirty two-fer dress definitely delivers. Plus, platforms and a snakeskin clutch mean you’ll be looking stylish, as well as be practical, while shaking your groove thang in the club.

How to: Wear a Cropped Top

Maybe it’s because our photographers are listening to Jack’s Mannequin or perhaps it’s the fact that we are based in sunny Los Angeles, but the general mood in the GoJane office is that summer has officially began. In spirit of all things summer we’re gonna show you how to rock one of our fave trends, cropped tops, courtesy of some super hot street style snaps we found.

Trend Report: The Return of Round Sunglasses

The temperature continues to rise and we continue to shed valuable layers in efforts to not completely roast. But, there is one delicious thing we get to add to our ensembles and we have a justifiable excuse for doing so: sunglasses. After all, a pair of sunnies is necessary for optimum ocular health, right? Right. But, you can’t just slip on the dusty frames you found underneath your bed- this season’s hottest shape is round. We’ve seen some of our fave style stars, including Nicki Minaj and model Abbey Lee Kershaw, rock these John Lennon-inspired shades, but we’re now bringing the look to you with this awesome photo gallery showing all the ways you can get round.

Luxe for Less: Rita Ora

A few weeks ago, as we were doing our daily gossip blog stroll, we came upon British sensation Rita Ora. With her platinum blond locks, sultry voice, and fun sense of style, we knew we had to try out a Luxe for Less look based on this soon-to-be superstar. The result? For less than $140 you can have this sexy and edgy Kim West ensemble Rita was recently spotted wearing.

(textured disc bead necklace, liquid finish dress, rhinestone inset watch, link bracelet, embellished cross ring, threaded friendship bracelet, and lace-up leatherette platform)

How to: Wear Jumpsuits

You know we love us a good runway look, but you know when we really feel something? When you notice that the coolest kid around is rocking something previously unattainable. And that’s the feeling we had with jumpsuits- sleek, sophisticated, sexy, but made for editors and not us mere mortals. Well, that’s what we were thinking until we saw the following street style snaps. We even picked three jumpsuits that we know you’re gonna seriously swoon over- what do you think of ’em?

Photo Gallery: Street Style Does Printed Shorts

As the mercury rises, we find ourselves sadly pushing our cozy cardigans and thickly knitted leggings to the back of our closet. Suddenly we can no longer rely on a patterned sweater or printed scarf to give our outfit that special something. Instead, in order to remain cool, we pare our outfits to the bare minimum in the form of shorts, slouchy tanks, and sandals. But, just ’cause you don’t have as much to play with doesn’t mean you have to resign yourself to boring basics. We assembled a gallery of our fave street style snaps featuring girls rocking printed shorts in order to show you that simple can still be stylish. So, take a look and make sure to tell us what your fave pic is and why.

Luxe for Less: Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap” (Part II)

Love Nicki Minaj’s leopard jumpsuit from her “Beez in the Trap” video? Not a surprise: Nicki was wearing GoJane and she looked all sorts of amazing. We previously sold out of this hot lil’ number, but we just got a new order in! So, if you wanna get Nicki’s ‘suit click here and get ready to look like a real diva.

Are you gonna snag this hot jumpsuit? Do you already have it?

Style Inspiration: The Chic Summer Blazer

Chances are you think of tanks and t-strap sandals when we mention summer. But, a light blazer is just as essential as your fave itsy bitsy bikini when the mercury rises. Why? ‘Cause there always seems to be a breeze when you’re dining on the patio at a hot new restaurant, not to mention the fact that some offices and classrooms are downright arctic. So, we pulled together dozens of street style pics with girls rocking blazers and oh yeah, our stylist chose the must have blazer for summer just for you. Take a look and make sure to tell us what your fave pic was and why.

Luxe for Less: Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens has been engaging in all the tell-tale behavior of former Disney stars- she’s had a photo scandal, been accused of engaging in recreational substances, and linked with a fellow celebrity hottie. Of course, just like any other young star, Vanessa is often spotted in designer goods and she seems to have a penchant for all things Giuseppe Zanotti. Fortunately, we managed to recreate one of Vanessa’s casual looks, but we did so for less than $150.

(from top to bottom: long sleeve button-up denim top, threaded friendship bracelets, embellished bangle quartet, stone swirl cuff bracelet, cuffed denim shorts, studded star front fringe purse,  and leatherette cowgirl boot)

What did you think of this look? What other celebs would you like to see get the GoJane Luxe for Less treatment?

Sneak Peek: Heel-less Platforms + Arm Bling

Just so you know, the behind the scenes photos you’re about to feast your eyes on were so incredibly fun to shoot and style. Why? Our lovely models had the chance to strut their stuff in some of  our fave ensembles. So, take a peek and make sure to tell us what item(s) you are lusting over.

This neon necklace is one of our fave accessories. Trust us when we tell you that you’ll be seeing it a lot more.

Jumpsuits and spiked bracelets? It’s definitely a GoJane dream come true.

Snakeskin and vegan leather heel-less platforms? No, you’re not dreaming, we pinky promise.

Our model getting caffeinated and rocking plenty of cool accessories.

Our models may or may not be doing Pilates in this picture.

Take note: you can do karate (or the running man?) in these heel-less platforms.Yep, they’re that comfortable.

Our model was such a good sport- she spent a good ten minutes jumping up and down so we could get a shot that was just right.

What GoJane is all about: racks of completely gorg clothes.

One of our photographers getting the perfect shot.

Optical illusion dresses are so in right now and we can’t wait for this dress to go on the site- it’s so chic.

Our model donning a Billy Idol scowl.

This lilac shirt happens to be sinfully silky and looks so amazing with all these cool bangles and woven bracelets, right?

Lace-up shorts for summer? Yes please!

Can’t decide what we love more- the semi-sheer floral blouse, bold oversized clutch, skull bracelets, or the shoes… Decisions, decisions!

Shhhh… preview of an upcoming blog post.

Denim is cool, especially when paired with this delightfully girly floral romper and stunning heel-less platforms.

Told you you’d see this necklace again!

Loving the bold lip. What about you?

Not only are these outfits amazing (definitely can’t wait to get our pedicured paws on some of those rings!), but our models look so good, right?!

Okay, so that’s all (for now), but we’ll be back soon with even more must-have goodies.  By the way, what was your favorite pic and why?

Street Style Snaps Show You the Hottest Way to Wear Printed Pants

You’ve probably worn pants at some point in your life. In fact, we sincerely hope you have because otherwise you’re missing out on the glorious feeling you get from being totally confident you’re not gonna flash strangers while exiting a vehicle. But, chances are your pant choices are lacking and that’s where we come in.  Why? ‘Cause we love us some printed bottoms and wanna make sure you can enjoy ’em in all their patterned awesomeness. So, we found some cool street style snaps that will definitely help you figure out the best way to rock some seriously crazy bottoms and we even added some helpful tips.

Tip: Unsure about committing to a wild bottom? Try a neutral base, such as black or navy, with print. It’s a lot less scary than slipping on brightly hued leggings and you’ll find it easier to build an outfit around the pants.

Tip: You’ll notice none of the above pics include a completely solid top. Instead, it’s all about trying something unexpected, including plaid, polka dots, and more leopard. By the way, if it sounds scary to combine prints, just remember to pick stuff from the same color family.

Tip: A great bag will always pull your look together. We love picking a complimentary hue, like the picture on the far left, but it can also be fun to match your shoes and bag for a pulled together ensemble. Oh, and if you’re feeling all sorts of saucy, get crazy and choose heels and a bag that don’t necessarily match each other, but make you look good.

By the way, one of our lovely style gurus found a few cute pairs she thinks you’re gonna like. Thoughts?

(from left to right: leopard spotted leggings, chain print harem pants, broken diamond leggings)

Have you tried to wear printed bottoms? Was it a success or did you feel that it flopped?

Sneak Peek: Cool Stuff + Backstage Beauty

We already know lots of girls style stalk on GoJane and in the spirit of generosity, we’re making that a little easier. Specifically, we want to show you all the cool things we have that haven’t appeared on the site yet. Plus, we’re offering a backstage peek at all that goes into making some of your fave looks a reality. Take a look and make sure to let us know what item you can’t wait to see on GoJane.

PS:  Scroll all the way down to see the sickest shoes we’ve ever carried.

See, leopard and florals do mix.

One of our fave looks is a bronze-y smokey eye. By the way, in the future we’ll be showing you a lot more about this look…

Skulls. Studs. ‘Nuff said.

Sigh, our models always take time to shop while we’re getting them ready.

Couldn’t you totally see Gaga rocking this blazer with padded vegan leather shoulders?

Not sure why everyone looks so serious, but we do know we’re obsessing over the floppy hat because it has glitter thread woven throughout.

Can’t wait for this American flag scarf to go live- it’s one of our fave accessories ever.

This is our resident studio photographer. Doesn’t he just ooze cool?

It was totally worth the wait, wasn’t it?

What was your fave look? By the way, if you saw something you have to have immediately, rest easy- they should be up later this week.

Luxe for Less: Jennifer Lawrence

It’s not exactly shocking that we love us some Jennifer Lawrence, but our love for all things The Girl on Fire was solidified when we saw how she handled her sudden rise to stardom. Specifically, despite the fact that she has an enviable bod and a face to melt even the coldest of hearts, she still seems all sorts of accessible, as does her style. We recently saw this Kentucky native leaving the airport and were blown away by her casually elegant ensemble. After all, it takes a special sort of girl to look chic after being holed up on an airplane for hours, right? We knew we had to recreate this look, but our version won’t cost nearly as much as Lawrence’s. Why? Well, she was rocking some seriously pricey lace-up oxfords courtesy of Lanvin at the tune of $1,200 a  pop. Fortunately, our nearly identical look will cost you a mere $150.

1. contrast frame sunglasses
2. rhinestone bow skull necklace
3. solid tuxedo blazer
4. striped bustier tube top
5. convertible leatherette backpack
6. basic five pocket skinny jeans
7. braided strappy platform

Celebrities + Street Style Bloggers Show You How to Wear Colored Jeans

Blue jeans are an American staple, but sometimes this tried and true wardrobe essential needs a dramatic makeover. The best way to do this? A bold hue, such as…

Red(Shenae Grimes, Amanda Seyfried, and Kate Middleton)

Purple(Nicky Hilton, Rachel Bilson, and Camilla Alves)

Turquoise(Drew Barrymore, Fearne Cotton, and Victoria Beckham)

However, it’s not just celebrities who are daring to slip on brightly hued bottoms. In fact, some of our fave snaps are from street style bloggers because they show us that you don’t have to be a star to look like one.

Do you own any brightly colored bottoms? What’s your fave way to style ’em?

Inspiration Gallery: Distressed Denim Shorts

As summer continues to march towards us, complete with promises of sand-filled bikinis and itchy sunburns, we find ourselves more and more excited by the promise of warm weather. Maybe it’s because we’re still middle schoolers at heart and as such, relish summer vacation (even if we’re at work), but we suspect that it’s actually because of a summertime sartorial staple: distressed denim shorts. After all, these versatile bottoms manage to go with everything, from flyaway blazers to graphic tees, and as such, we’re kinda in love. We pulled together a few snaps from some seriously stylish street snaps and of course, our lovely stylist chose four pairs to seriously improve your life.

If you wanna get in on the look, try one of the amazing choices below.

(from left to right: cuffed bermuda shorts, destroyed cut-off shorts, distressed cuffed denim shorts, and leopard high-waisted shorts)

What was your favorite look? Are you feeling inspired to try anything new?

Luxe for Less: La La Vazquez

La La Vazquez became a public figure during her tenor on the pop culture punch Total Request Live. Once the show went off the air La La continued to permeate the public consciousness by hosting several VH1 shows, including Flavor of Love, I Love New York, and Charm School. Plus, her high-profile friendship with Kim Kardashian doesn’t hurt her popularity. But, you know what else this New York beauty is known for? Her cool and chic urban style. We recreated a recent look of this reality television diva at a charity event, but there is one startling difference: our entire look cost less than $150 whereas La La spent at least $900 on those sparkly Louboutins.

1. chain link teardrop earrings
2. flyaway cropped cardigan
3. jersey bodysuit
4. beaded spring bracelet
5. aztec print mini skirt
6. microstud embellished pump

Three Fashion Rules You Should Break

We’re always told that fashion allows us to express ourselves, but we’re also told that there are a bunch of rules you have to follow if you wanna look good. Uh-oh, what’s a girl to do?! The answer is simple: break ’em. After talking to some of our favorite stylists, bloggers, models, and buyers we came up with three rules that you should break. Plus, we created outfits inspired by all that rebellion.

1. Don’t wear leggings as pants

1. strappy back dolman sleeve top
2. elephant tusk necklace
3. stone strappy back ring
4. tribal print leggings
5. buckle suede bootie
6. teardrop ring

Admittedly, you shouldn’t don a pair of tight flesh colored leggings lest you look nude and you sure as hell shouldn’t slip on a pair of mesh leggings and act as if you’re covered. But, you are totes allowed to substitute jeans for printed and lace inset leggings.

2. Don’t combine patterns

1. sheer floral cropped top
2. baroque sunglasses
3. contrast coil bracelet
4. shimmer jewel triangle ring
5. polka dot high-waisted shorts
6. neon patent leatherette platforms

Do we advise layering your navy semi-sheer polka dot blouse over a pair of brightly striped fuchsia jeans? No. But, we also realize that leopard can most definitely be a neutral and furthermore, the trick to making this work is to stick to a similar color scheme and keep proportion in mind.

3. Don’t wear black to a wedding

1. beaded feather earrings
2. teardrop ring
3. chameleon sequin clutch
4. printed studded heels
5. oversized bow tube dress

Maybe you chose a black dress because you find the hue slimming or you’re a fan of all things Wednesday Addams. And even though some old school fashionistas claim that wearing black to a wedding is crass, we are under the opinion that getting your black on is all sorts of chic.

What other fashion rules should you break? Are there any we still need to follow?

Fashion Term of the Week: Mullet Hem

Chances are you’ve seen our models prancing around the front page in daring dresses that expose a lot of shin, but keep the calf hidden. But, did you know that this fashionable silhouette has an actual name? It’s known as the mullet hem or the high-low hem.  So, what are the characteristics of this cool cut? It’s pretty simple: all business in the front and party in the back.

This look has been threatening to take over for awhile now, but it’s now reached the point where you won’t get completely eviscerated if you decide to don this silhouette for school or work. Of course,  your mom may ask in tones of disgust, “What the hell is that?” (ed. note: My mom did!), but you’re also sure to get a few nods of approval.

Our fave way to try out the mullet hem? Slip on a sinfully soft short sleeve high-low tee, add leggings, slide on your fave pair of slouchy leatherette boots, and oh yeah, make sure you find plenty of cool girl accessories.

1. high-low sheer back top
2. skull charm thread bracelet
3. link bracelet
4. stone stretch ring
5. tasseled cut-out charm necklace
6. stone square shape ring
7. jewel stretch bracelet
8. oversized embroidered flower booties
9. skinny jeans

Are you a fan of this look? Why or why not?

PS: Plus, make sure to tell us if there are any other fashion terms you’re confused about and we’ll totally help you out!

Summer Style Essentials: Five Things You Need Now

There are many reasons that we love summer: the best action movies of the year arrive in theaters, there are all sorts of awesome musical festivals, and it’s considered socially acceptable to roam around in a bikini top. However, know what our fave thing about the return of summer is? The clothes. Okay, we know such a revelation isn’t exactly jaw breaking, but in spirit of all things mercury rising, here are our five things you need for summer.

1. Cropped Top

The cropped top is a cool kid staple from the 90’s, but this season’s iteration is even more fierce than the ones from the Clueless generation. Why? Because we’re no longer pairing our cropped tops with crunchy hair and scrunchies. Instead, it’s all about doing cropped in an undeniably sleek way and incorporating ladylike elements, such as…

2. High-Waisted Shorts

Denim is undeniably casual, but we are definitely fans of the resurgence of high-waisted denim. Why? Because it’s still cool, but it also gives you an hourglass figure. Plus, as we already mentioned, it looks chic when paired with a feminine and flirty cropped top. Of course, you can’t have a summer outfit without…

3. Chunky Printed Heels

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that this heel is all sorts of hot. Not only does the chunky heel and hidden platform make it easy to add height to your frame without sacrificing comfort, but this shape is definitely on trend. Of course, we also like the fact that the patterned sole adds some much needed kick to any ensemble without any extra effort on your part.

4. Printed Scarf

You already know that tribal prints continue to be all sorts of stylish, but there’s another reason we love this scarf for summer: it’s lightweight and as such, will add some pop to your outfit without causing you to overheat. Plus, we’ve all been out and suddenly realized that it’s kind of chilly thanks to a light breeze. The easiest thing to do in this situation? Wrap the scarf around you and continue to have a fabulous night with the girls.

5. Luxe Shades

A good pair of sunnies keep the sun out of your eyes, prevent ocular damage, and allows you to hide any evidence of a late night. But, there’s an even more important reason to fall in love with these designer-inspired sunglasses: they’re so trendy it hurts and the circular frame will keep you looking stylish even if you’re only heading to the grocery store.

What are your must-have items for summer? Anything we missed?

Luxe for Less: Nicki Minaj in “Beez in the Trap”

(Note: The video contains explicit lyrics and adult imagery)

Between the trippy beat and all that booty, you may have missed some of  the sick fashion in Nicki Minaj’s latest vid, “Beez in the Trap.” While we don’t like to play favorites, we couldn’t help but feel particularly proud when we saw the Harajuka Barbie shaking her derriere in our elastic band leopard jumpsuit. Don’t believe us?

What about now? Admittedly, our model doesn’t have quite as much badonkadonk as ol’ Nicki, but we still think she looks pretty damn good. By the way, if you want to get Nicki’s look we have just a few of these jumpsuits left.

If you like this look, but don’t think you can  commit to such a daring piece, try one of the three options below.

1. zebra cut-out sleeve jumpsuit
2. cut-out jumpsuit
3. elastic band cut-out jumpsuit

Do you guys think you could work this look? Where would you rock it?

How to: Wear Polka Dots Like an It Girl

Minnie Mouse and Nikki Sixx have more in common than the letter ‘i’: these two pop culture figures, like many others, have rocked some serious polka dots during their career. Of course, Minnie’s baby doll dress and bow are quite different than Nikki’s slashed jumpsuits in 1983, but as these two diametrically opposed characters show, polka dots are perpetually in style. We assembled an inspiration gallery just for you with all sorts of polka dot action and additionally, we found four polka dot pieces that we think you’re gonna love.

What was your favorite picture?

As promised, here are our stylist’s four picks for polka dot perfection:

1. oversized polka dot bow earrings
2. polka dot sunglasses
3. polka dot scarf
4. polka dot bow accented heel

What was your favorite accessory? We don’t want to play favorites or anything, but we think we might need to get our pedicured paws on those platform heels immediately. Thought?

The Best of Coachella Fashion: Weekend One

Didn’t manage to get your pedicured paws on tickets for the highly anticipated Coachella festival? We’re not terribly surprised because the tickets sold out almost immediately for both weekends. However, just because you couldn’t be there in person to watch Tupac’s hologram performance doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to experience some of the fashionable fun of this mega event. Below are some of our fave looks from Coachella and oh yeah, make sure to tell us which ones you’re loving.

What was your fave look? Also, did you see that Katy Perry was holding a cigarette while showing off her assets in that lovely semi-sheer printed dress? We must admit that we didn’t expect that from the “Part of Me” songstress.

By the way, if you managed to get a hold of tickets for next week’s shows check out some of our must-have pieces for festival fun. In fact, these pieces are so cool you can wear ’em at non-musical festival events.

Of course our loyal readers already know we’re a fan of RiRi’s style, but this particular ensemble combined some of our fave things and we genuinely couldn’t wait to assemble a copycat of this casual, yet sexy, look. Oh, we should mention one major difference: Rihanna’s ensemble cost over $2,500, thanks to the Miu Miu heels, Chanel scarf, and Vlieger & Vandam bag, while ours will run you less than $115.

3. origami bird charm necklace

Fashion Face-Off: Cropped Tops’ Edition

Watching late night reruns of Friends has taught us many things, but perhaps the most important lesson we’ve learned involves one of our fave things: fashion. Namely, cropped tops are freaking adorable and will always look good, regardless of if it’s 1992 or 2012.  So, in celebration of all things cropped we’re giving you a fierce fashion face-off and you have to choose your fave celebrity in the battle of the cropped top.

Katy Perry vs. Selena Gomez

After seeing these two beauties in their cropped tops we knew we had to get in on the trend. One of our trendy stylists picked three tops she knows you’ll love and to show our appreciation of the Kids’ Choice Awards’ orange carpet she picked three tops of a similar shade.

1. woven bralette
2. cropped crochet top
3. ponte cropped top

Luxe for Less: Keke Palmer

Don’t immediately recognize the name Keke Palmer? Here’s a quick and dirty bio: she starred in Akeelah and the Bee, was one of the highest paid child stars on television, and has even put her gorgeous mug on a fashion line.  Recently we were asked to create a Keke inspired look, but we couldn’t quite figure out which of her many ensembles to emulate. We eventually decided on this winner because it’s cute, simple, and can totally be broken up to be worn with other outfits. Oh, and did we mention that our version costs less than $75?

1. venice neck patch ponti dress
2. pearl stretch bracelet

3. chunky platform heel

Why it works: Keke’s dress included a dropped waist, but we decided to go with a more flattering body con fit. However, we kept the same girly vibe of Keke’s frock by incorporating lace, as well as outfitting our model in pink vegan suede heels and a delightfully gorgeous faux-pearl bracelet.

March brings us many things, including madness and leprechauns, but it is the end of this month that makes us realize spring is truly in the air. And we could celebrate the assurance of warmer weather with florals and shorter hemlines, but we thought of an even better way to usher in the spring equinox: lace. And sure, we’ve previously covered how your fave starlets rock this flirty fabric, but today’s post is extra special ’cause we rounded up tons of street style snaps, from all corners of the globe, featuring gorgeous gals in lace, including a pic or two of a sexy lace manicure.  So, take a look and make sure to let us know which one you’re seriously lusting over.

Luxe for Less: Miley Cyrus

During her Disney prime, we saw Miley Cyrus packaged as the all-American girl that both parents and kids could enjoy. Consequently, she was often outfitted in clothes that reflected her every girl style- cowboy boots, cute tees, and lots of denim. Yet, after celebrating her 18th birthday, a different Miley emerged- one with permanent ink, a penchant for  engaging in reefer madness, and oh yeah, there have been some instances of having too much fun with baked goods in the shapes of certain appendages. But, despite her edgier pursuits, one thing has remained constant: Miley’s style and sense of fashion is unique, relaxed, and admired by millions. With this in mind we created one of Miley’s signature looks, but our version won’t require you to have grossed serious coin by starring in a TV show with your dad. Curious as to how much this casual ensemble cost? Less than $100. Score!

1. wire frame aviator sunglasses
2. origami bird charm necklace
3. lace bandeau tube
4. flower crotchet tank
5. faded denim shorts
6. link design bracelet
7. oversized cross ring
8. western style leatherette boot
