More or Less: Manicure Sunglasses

Blame it on Kanye- after “Stronger” we realized that regular sunnies just wouldn’t cut it anymore. We recently saw a pair of statement sunnies that were totally fashion forward, but we weren’t about to drop $255 on a pair, especially when they don’t even protect your peepers. But, guess what we have? A nearly identical pair of sunglasses for a very modest $5. Take a look and let us know which pair of sunglasses is GoJane and which pair is designer.

GoJane’s BFF: Katie of “Oh So Katie Li”

Meet Katie from OhSoKatieLi. She’s GoJane’s latest BFF (blogger friend forever)! She recently made some good use of our leather ankle boots. Miss Katie paired some of our vegan leather booties with a  loungy, casual-chic, military-inspired outfit. What we love most about Katie’s look? The fact that she styled our boots with a pair of men’s dress socks. How very trés chic of you, our lil’ Brooklyn Babe BFF! Thanks Katie, for making our already awesome boots, look even awesomer!

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: New Accessories, Cool Tops, and Rad Ponytails

We’re loving all of the things arriving on the daily to the GoJane studio. We’re getting the most amazing booties (perfect for fall), graphic tees, and of course, plenty of sexy body con dresses. Take a look at all this new stuff and let us know what you’re loving.

Inspiration Gallery: Backpacks

During our daily street style fashion blog stroll we’ve noticed something major- backpacks. Yes, they’re back and are more popular than ever. Plus, some of these backpacks are so sinfully stylish that you won’t want to stuff papers, books, and pens in ’em; instead you’ll be rockin’ a ‘pack as the latest way to show off your great sense of style. If you’re still feeling iffy about this trend, check out our inspiration gallery and let us know if you’re a fan of the backpack trend.

More or Less: Embellished Flats

Love flats, but worried that they don’t pack enough of a punch? Yeah, we totes understand, but we’re here to help with a pair of flats that resemble… (wait for it) mice. Or hamsters. We’re still not quite sure, but we are totally sure about our love of these adorable kicks. Of course, when we first saw the designer version of these shoes we were shocked by their price tag ($350!), but fortunately GoJane has a nearly identical pair for a very doable $20.90. Take a look and let us know which pair you think is from GoJane.

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Spooky Accessories, Glam Jackets, and Studded Bras

So, we don’t want to spoil your sartorial appetite, but this post is kinda bananas. GoJane’s BFF: Molly of “The Geeky Peacock”

Meet Molly from The Geeky Peacock. She’s GoJane’s latest BFF! This self proclaimed geek is a lover of all things comic book, video game, anime, literature and LARPing (we’re not quite sure what LARPing is, but it sounds delicious!). This Seattle based fashion blogger got our attention when we spotted her rocking the crap out of our spiky lace-up booties. Miss Molly cleverly paired these bright teal beauties with a monochromatic, blacked-out outfit- allowing for our shoes to shine. If it wasn’t for that overly adorable Pomeranian of hers (with an even more adorable name, Sushi)- we’d almost have the spotlight.

Inspiration Gallery: Polka Dots

Polka dots are the ultimate girly trend. Every lovely lady from Marilyn Monroe to Katy Perry has been spotted (get it?) frequently rocking the classic print. GoJane has been getting in loads of polka dots recently, so naturally, we thought it was time for a little styling inspiration. We compiled a few of our favorite looks from super-stylish bloggers to get you your fashion fix for the day. But be careful not to stare too long, you may start seeing spots.

How do you style this spotty trend?

More or Less: Leather Skirt with Star Cut-Outs

Everyone knows a classic pencil skirt will get you far in life (just ask Elle Woods).  When we initially saw this leather pencil skirt with star cut-outs we swooned, and you bet that once we found out the price we nearly fainted. After all, at over $1,000, the designer version of this skirt is pretty damn pricey. But we’ve found a nearly identical version and we retail it for a very modest $45.50. Take a look at the skirts below, both caught on the runway, and let us know which one is from GoJane and which one is designer.

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Leopard, Leather, and Hats

Even though temperatures are still pretty hot here, we’re getting super excited about fall fashion. This week, we got in tons of chilly weather accessories including hats, legwarmers, and scarves. We’re also loving all the (vegan) leather goods we’ve been getting in lately. Leather is perfect for any season, but we are especially excited about moto jackets for fall. And just to perfectly top off our collection of new goods this week, we got a bunch of gorgeous leopard pieces. And kitty ear hair clips. They’re seriously almost too cute for words. So, we got our stylist to take us through the process step by step, as well as link to all the colors you’ll need. Wanna learn? Read on.

1. Paint your nail a neutral mocha or beige

2. Paint dark green or olive spots

3. Paint brown spots (overlap with green)

4. Add black lines with thin brush

5. Finish with a clear topcoat if desired

Style Crush: Kreayshawn

Yes, we were one of the millions who viewed Kreayshawn’s much talked about “Gucci Gucci” Youtube video. This Oakland-based rapper has been on our minds for some time now, and we’ve been jocking the heck out of her hardcore, street-savvy style. But when talks of her first studio album hit the web months ago, we thought it would be best to hold off on featuring her as a style crush, because we wanted her at her freshest! And we’re so glad we waited.

With the debut of her first major record label backed album Somethin’ ’bout Kreay hitting iTunes yesterday, she unleashed some verbal craft that has got all her fans twerkin’ their asses off. And with a video for her latest single “Go Hard,” she revealed an updated version of her trendy look. Kreay Baby’s latest style includes a severe ombre hairdo, an even more exaggerated cat eye liner, and as always, some of the most colorful, outlandish, unexpected outfits any street misfit could pull together.

Take a look at some of our fave Kreay-zy looks and you’ll soon understand why we love this hard-partying, cat loving, swisher smoking, white girl mobbin’, free-spirited…female rapper.

We took it upon ourselves to style Miss Kreay in a GoJane look. This is a collection of stuff we think she would totally dig. Take note that we included eyeliner for her signature exaggerated cat eye look, and a pair of flatform shoes because she’s been Instagramming the crap out of this trend.

leatherette varsity jacket, graphic cat tee, pleated leather mini skirt, dangling parrot hoop earrings, retro silicone watchnyx super fat eyelinerthick two-tone sunglasses, patent leather espadrille flatforms

*Funny story: We went to a Kreayshawn show back in December 2011 in LA and loooved it! But in the heat of the moment (during her performance of  “Gucci Gucci”), we threw a cat ring (bought from GoJane of course) onto the stage in hopes of Kreayshawn picking it up and falling in love with it. Welllllll, maybe we should say tried to throw the ring on stage. It didn’t quite make it. It hit some dude in the back of the head and he spent the rest of the song searching for the culprit. What can we say? Apparently our arms turn into Tyrannosaurus rex arms when we’ve had a few cocktails. Sorry, dude we hit.

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Peplums, Fur Coats, and Ombre

Our most recent in-studio photo sesh featured tons of jackets, coats, and blazers. We have to admit that we started acting kind of silly as we planned dozens of different outfits around chain link printed bomber jackets that looked like something straight from the set of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, thick faux-fur jackets that made us want to move somewhere downright Artic, and classic vegan leather jackets. But, jackets weren’t the only things arriving en masse- we also got in some fabulously feminine peplum skirts and punky hand bracelets. Wanna see all of the sweet new stuff that just arrived? Start scrolling.

How to: Wear Tights This Fall

We’ve already documented our love of wearing tights with shorts, but we haven’t quite delved into how to rock tights with… well, everything. So, that’s what we’re dedicating today’s post to, and we’re doing it with some help from our fave street style stars. Take a look and let us know how you plan to wear tights this fall.

More or Less: Cap Toe Pumps

Designers have been showing a ton of cap toe pumps this season, and we’re loving the look, but we aren’t fans of the price. For example, the designer version pictured below is $645. Conversely, our version will set you back a modest $17.60. Take a look and let us know which pair of pumps you think is from GoJane.

GoJane’s BFF: Iria of “My Blueberry Nights”

Good friends are hard to find. Good fashion bloggers are even more rare. It seems like the internet is littered with personal style blogs and it would take a lifetime to get through them all to decide on your faves. But we know you’re a busy gal and and we’d rather you spend any free time you have shopping our site, rather than trolling the internet for some good reads and tasty pics. So we here at GoJane have gathered a team of web surfing fashionistas who will sort through the millions of fashion blogs for you. We’ve hand selected the cream of the crop and we’re bringing these blogging babes to you dressed in some of GoJane’s hottest items. We’re calling these stylish GoJane loving’ ladies our BFFs…Blogger Friends Forever! Que cute, huh?

Meet Iria! She’s a hip little sweetie from Spain who just recently featured a pair of our microstud buckle booties on her blog My Blueberry Nights. I know it’s hard to focus on the fashion when there is an ADORABLE puppy in the picture, but do your best.

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Midi Rings, Spiked Kicks, and Sultry Dresses

So, lately it seems like we have an obsession with things that begin with ‘s’, such as spikes, shoes, and sparkles. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t equally enamored with plaid, tweed, leather, or fringe. As you’ll see in this post, there’s a little bit of everything, and it’s all kinds of amazing. So, take a look and let us know what you think of all of these new goodies.

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Grunge-Inspired Jackets, Spikes, and Metallic Tweed

We’ve already waxed poetic about our affection for all things inspired by 1993, so it shouldn’t surprise you that we started clapping our hands with sheer excitement when some of these featured goodies arrived at the GoJane studio. After all, who doesn’t love them some cropped tops, combo moto jackets, and flannel? Take a look and let us know what goodies you’re coveting.

Luxe for Less: Gwen Stefani

You already know about our Gwen Stefani style crush, but an outfit she wore earlier this week made us seriously swoon. Why? Well, she managed to incorporate some of our favorite trends, such as leather and peplums, into one cool look. Of course, we knew that the songstress responsible for “Rich Girl” (sample lyrics include, “I’d buy everything/ Clean out Vivienne Westwood/ In my Galliano gown”) was rockin’ some seriously expensive gear, and we didn’t want to spend an entire paycheck on a pair of peep-toe booties. So, we put together a nearly identical look for a very modest $89.50. Take a look and make sure to let us know what you think.

How to: Wear White After Labor Day

Over 100 years ago, it was decided by some wealthy fashionistas that white should not be worn after Labor Day. The trend, which was vaguely practical, then trickled down to fashion magazines. (We’ll spare you the historical details, but you can read more here if you’re interested.) To this day, many people let out a little groan when Labor Day rolls around, and begrudgingly put away their white summer clothes. At GoJane, we’re all about breaking traditional fashion rules, and wearing whatever prints or colors we think work for each season. And we just so happen to think white works year round. After all, Coco Chanel rocked white whenever she wanted.

Just to get you in the ‘wear white all year’ mindset, we’ve put together a few affordable outfits that feature white without screaming ‘summer vacation!’

four pocket distressed denim shorts, studded leather sweater, single buckle boots

asymmetrical peplum mini skirt, caged back tank, houndstooth cap toe platforms, layered pearl necklace set, quilted metal hinge bracelet, leather reptile wallet

high-waist skinny jeans, floral printed chambray shirt, flyaway cardigan, leather braid belt, rhinestone trim watch, leather buckle strap satchel

How do you wear white after Labor Day?

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Shoes Perfect for Fall and Accessories You’ll Want ASAP

Sure, the temperature in southern California is still hovering at 90°, but we’re prepping for fall anyways. Why? All the new looks we get to debut, obviously. And one of our fave parts of any look? Footwear. This post is gonna showcase some of our must-have shoes for fall, complete with links so you can get your pedicured paws on ’em, as well as a sneak peek at all the sweet new stuff we just got in, including leg chains, studded bags, and sexy dresses.

More or Less: British Flag Clutch

Think a clutch has to be boring because it serves a utilitarian purpose? Yeah, we’re gonna beg to differ. After all, can you think of anything more drool-inducing than a bold clutch with a sexy dress and towering heels? Us neither. Today’s More or Less features a bright and statement worthy clutch at two very different price points- the designer version of this British flag clutch retails for $1,500 whereas the GoJane version is $46. Take a look and let us know which option you think is from GoJane.

MTV Video Music Awards 2012: The Good, The Bad, and The Hmmm…

Last night’s MTV Video Music Awards 2012 may have included a kiss between Rihanna and Chris Brown, but otherwise managed to be pretty tame. But, don’t let the lack of drama fool you- there were some seriously stylish celebs present, as well as a few stars sporting some questionable duds. Take a peek at our picks and let us know what you thought of the MTV Video Music Awards, as well as our picks.

Five Red Pieces to Celebrate Fashion’s Night Out

Thursdays aren’t typically a busy day, but today is an exception because there are several big things going on tonight: President Obama’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, the MTV Music Awards, and of course, Fashion’s Night Out. And, while we’d love to chat about all of ’em today, we’re gonna focus on the most important- Fashion’s Night Out. Why? Well, it is about fashion, our fave thing in the whole wide world.

For those not in the know, Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) began in 2009 as a way to celebrate all things fashion, as well as get the world shopping again. The official color of the event is red, and in order to celebrate all things FNO we decided to show you our favorite red pieces. Sounds good? Yeah, we thought so, too.

3. plunging sweetheart neckline dress

4. lipstick charm necklace

Inspiration Gallery for Fall’s Fave Shade: Burgundy

If you’ve been paying attention to all the major glossies, beauty blogs, and street style stars, you’ve probably noticed a shift in color. Specifically, we’re seeing a lot of burgundy. This rich hue is perfect for fall, and is also known as bordeaux, wine, berry, and plum. So, take a look at our large gallery featuring this completely gorg color in all its forms, and make sure to let us know how you’re wearing burgundy this season.

Preparing for a day of shooting requires a lot of things: the perfect playlist, pulling all sorts of accessories, and of course, making sure our models are having fun (this is accomplished by cracking really bad jokes). Today’s set of photos from our most recent shoot required all of the above, but the best part of this photo sesh was the clothes. In this post you’ll see some of our newest favorites, including a pair of metallic sky-high platforms,  a denim bustier with some serious hardware, and some pretty rad accessories. Don’t believe us? How to: Take a Dress from Day to Night

There are tons of ways you can make your daytime outfit work for your night plans. Just to give you a little inspiration, we’ve taken a cute high-low dress and styled it for a day of running around and an evening out to dinner.
All you need to change are a few accessories! Whether you’re wearing jeans, a skirt, or a dress, you can easily dress up your outfit with heels, a clutch, and some fun jewelry.

What items are you lusting over?

More or Less: Wedge Sneakers

Have you seen some of your favorite celebrities, including Miranda Kerr, Kate Bosworth, and Beyoncé, wearing a pair of suspiciously puffy and flattering sneakers? While the sneakers may look like classic vintage kicks, they’re actually wedge sneakers and routinely retail for $700. However, we’ve found a nearly identical pair for a modest $30.50. Take a look and let us know which pair costs less than your weekly mani/pedi.

Inspiration Gallery: Skulls and Crosses

We’ve already told you about one of our fave trends (spikes and studs) for the upcoming season, but we think you’re ready for another one: skulls and crosses. And, just so you know, we’re not talking the gigantic skulls or crosses splashed across your person like that one kid you used to hang out with who freaked your mom out. Instead, the skulls and crosses we’re getting excited about include cut-out tees, dainty rings, and seriously bad ass clutches. To show you just how versatile this trend can be, we put together an inspiration gallery of images, some street style, some Instagram, and some editorial (and even one dude), that have made us whip out the plastic and load up our reusable shopping bags with all sorts of goodies.

Inspiration Gallery: Stripes

Ladies, meet our second trend of the week: stripes. We know, stripes are nothing new, but they have recently taken the fashion universe by storm. Whether bold or subtle, stripes can breathe new life into a hum drum outfit. In fact, we suggest trying to treat stripes as a neutral. You’ll be surprised how perfect they are for mixing prints and bright colors. And just for your convenience, we’ve compiled all our amazing striped pieces into one totally trendy page. But enough chatting, we’ve gathered some of our favorite bloggers and street style shots to give you some striped inspiration!

How to: Wear Spikes and Studs

Is it just us, or has the summer flown by? Maybe it’s ’cause we were super busy; between assembling our July 2012 lookbook, checking out the hottest swim looks from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and showing you how to dress for the beach, time just slipped through our perfectly manicured fingers. Granted, there’s still a few blissful weeks before the official beginning of fall, but we decided to take this week to introduce some of our favorite new trends for the season. First on our list? Spikes and studs.  We’re pretty sure you know all about our adoration for all things spiked and studded (you have been reading our Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek posts, right?), but today’s post is special. Why? Because we’re gonna show you how to wear spikes and studs with a gigantic picture gallery full of our fave street style bloggers.

More or Less: Skull Bracelets

Even though it looks like some high-fashion retailers have placed this metal bracelet on sale, we still find the idea of spending $230 (reduced from $300) a bit jarring. Fortunately for you, we have a dainty metal bracelet, complete with skulls and embellishments. Can you tell which bracelet costs a mere $8 and which one will set you back three digits?
