How to: Wear White After Labor Day

Over 100 years ago, it was decided by some wealthy fashionistas that white should not be worn after Labor Day. The trend, which was vaguely practical, then trickled down to fashion magazines. (We’ll spare you the historical details, but you can read more here if you’re interested.) To this day, many people let out a little groan when Labor Day rolls around, and begrudgingly put away their white summer clothes. At GoJane, we’re all about breaking traditional fashion rules, and wearing whatever prints or colors we think work for each season. And we just so happen to think white works year round. After all, Coco Chanel rocked white whenever she wanted.

Just to get you in the ‘wear white all year’ mindset, we’ve put together a few affordable outfits that feature white without screaming ‘summer vacation!’

four pocket distressed denim shorts, studded leather sweater, single buckle boots

asymmetrical peplum mini skirt, caged back tank, houndstooth cap toe platforms, layered pearl necklace set, quilted metal hinge bracelet, leather reptile wallet

high-waist skinny jeans, floral printed chambray shirt, flyaway cardigan, leather braid belt, rhinestone trim watch, leather buckle strap satchel

How do you wear white after Labor Day?

Sneak Peek: Brightly Colored Platforms

How to: Wear High-Waisted Jeans

Confession: when high-waisted jeans (along with their natural allies, crop tops) began trickling into GoJane there was a lot of muttering darkly about the 90’s being over and asking, “Why are we getting these?!” But, no one would dare to utter such a statement now. Why? Because high-waisted jeans are back in a big way. If you’re still doubting us and unsure if you can rock the look go ahead and check out our awesome how to guide featuring three very different look.

Look 1:

hot tip button-up blouse, embellished eagle charm necklace, leather buckle belt, high-waisted acid wash jeans, stone center hinge bracelet, animal print contrast purse, and perforated velvet oxfords

Look 2:

We’ve been loving the chance to show you all the cool stuff we have coming in, including our most recent acquisitions: two pairs of heels that will make you swoon, a distressed tee with a feline friend, and a pair of jeans that are out of this world.

Luxe for Less: Kate Bosworth

The gorgeous Kate Bosworth has been on our style radar since she surfed the beaches of Hawaii in Blue Crush back in 2002. Her style is incredibly eclectic, but she always manages to look effortlessly chic. She recently attended a Hugo Boss fashion show in Berlin and wore a sleek black dress from the collection. She paired the LBD with some pointy toe pumps and a clutch in the same hue. Since we are loving the monochromatic trend right now, we had to recreate her look. The monochromatic trend can be a bit challenging, so we love the idea of trying it out in an easy shade, like black! While Kate’s outfit will likely drain your wallet empty and then some, our look will only set you back $89.90. Doesn’t get much more affordable than that!

gathered shift dress, pointy toe leather pumps, mini quilted clutch

What do you think of Kate Bosworth’s monochromatic outfit? Is it a trend you’ll try out?

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Lace, Spikes, and Glasses

We know you’re busy squeezing every last moment out of the remaining summer weeks, and we have loads of new styles to help you soak up some sun. We’ve even got some transition pieces that will carry you right into fall (when that sad day comes). Whatever your style is, we’re pretty sure you’ll find loads of new pieces to add to your wish list. With denim cut-offs, lace tops, studded clutches, and flowy dresses, how could you not? And we’d just like to take a moment to point out how amazing our models look when they’re just sitting around. It almost seems unfair.

So tell us, what item are you most excited about?

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Spikes, Studs, and Skulls

Yeah, we know it’s July, but we’re kinda already obsessing over all things fall, including sweaters. We guess that’s why today’s post is focused on all sorts of pre-fall goodies, such as thickly knitted cardigans and creepy crawly spiders (perfect for Halloween!). But, don’t think we’re out of some perfect summer stuff. As you’ll see, we’re still feeling waterfall hems, head chains, and denim cut-offs. Oh, and we made sure to include a few shots of our models fooling around in the studio. You like?

What did you think?

PS: As always, everything should be on the site within a few days (in the New Styles section).

How to: Wear a Printed Skirt

Dressing for success doesn’t just mean wearing boring blazers and knee length pencil skirts. Instead, showing off your style smarts requires some serious sartorial cunning. And you know one of our fave ways to do that? Printed skirts. But, in case you don’t feel up to getting your print on, we have an awesome gallery of style street stars showing you how to do the printed skirt with class and confidence.

Sneak Peek + Behind the Scenes: Accessories

Sure, we love us some heels (and dresses and tanks and…), but we also realize the importance of dressing to impress with accessories. After all, a perfectly placed ring can definitely upgrade your outfit. That’s why we’re focusing on accessories today in hopes of getting you super excited about stuff to soon appear on the site, as well as a few behind the scenes photos featuring some total styling genius.

More arm party after the jump!

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Silky Skirts, Lace High-Low Dresses, and Plenty of Skulls

We couldn’t quite decide what our fave part of our most recent shoot was. Between the luxe skirts, high-low lace dresses, and fashion-forward accessories, we didn’t quite know what to show you ’cause there was just so much cool stuff. But, after a few tense minutes of debate, we decided to show you a few of our new fave things, as well as rare behind the scenes photos of models in their natural habitat.

Sneak Peek + Behind the Scenes: Edgy Accessories

It was particularly difficult to choose a few pictures for today’s post because we had so much cool stuff we wanted to share with you. Of course, you’ll see some of our fave new trends, such as hand bracelets, but we’re also gonna give you a backstage glimpse at a few other things that got us talking. Wanna see? Start scrolling, girl.

Sneak Peek: New Shoes

Chances are you’ve seen some of your favorite celebrities, including Kristen Stewart, Beyoncé, and Demi Lovato, strutting their stuff in clear cap toe stilettos. Today, between sips of soy lattes and styling models, we spied several brightly hued pairs of clear cap toe heels and we may or may not have begun hyperventilating (hint: we totally did). By the way, we think you’ll begin getting all sorts of excited too, once you see ’em. So, take a look and make sure to let us know what you think.

These stilettos should be on the site within the next few days, but until then, feel free to satisfy your shoe lust with some of our other fresh kicks.

Behind the Scenes: Big Hair and Mint Tops

We think that this is probably one of our favorite pictures of all time. After all, we’re still obsessing about mint hued clothing, including super feminine, semi-sheer tops, and of course, all that arm bling makes us want to do an immediate happy dance.

This top, as well as all those gorgeous faux-stone rings, should be on the site soon. So, make sure to look out and let us know what you think.

People Style Watch + GoJane = <3

Incredible partnerships: Batman & Robin, Beyonce & Jay-Z, Beavis & Butthead, Jack & Coke…People Style Watch & GoJane! When you get these duos together, there’s no telling what’s gonna happen. Some people/things just mesh well together and we’re happy to be part of a stylin’ sisterhood with the editors of PSW. Kristen Maxwell (Staff Editor @ PSW), recently popped up on two separate shows to talk GoJane fashions with the audiences of Better Show and New York Live TV. And what better ways to rep us, than with sassy sunglasses and sexy shoes. Check out what we have to offer the feigning fashionistas of daytime television…

Luxe for Less: Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten Dunst has been on our pop culture radar for decades thanks to her portrayal of a juvenile vampire in Interview with the Vampire, as well as starring roles in Bring It On and Spider-Man. We’ve always been a fan of Dust as a result of her insistence on not conforming to Hollywood standards of beauty, as well as her unique sense of style, but lately this indie darling has taken bold risks we’re definitely obsessing over. Earlier this year, when we saw her in a Chloe jacket, a Dolce & Gabbana frock and shoes, and jewelry courtesy of Van Cleef and Arpels, we knew we had to recreate the look, without the designer price tag, of course. Her version runs in the thousands, but ours comes in at a very modest $161.

(collarless jacket, pleated sweetheart bodice dress, perforated contrast clutch, chain link hinge bracelet, skull ring snake clutch, and floral peep-toe wedges)

What did you think of Dunst’s look? What other celebs would you like to see get the Luxe for Less treatment?

How to: Wear Baroque

If you’ve been paying attention to the GoJane site lately, you’ve probably noticed the influx of items bearing the ‘baroque’ moniker. This name may initially lead you to vaguely remember something about 17th century, European art, but our version doesn’t have anything to do with Peter Paul Rubens or Josefa de Óbidos. Instead, when we call something baroque, we mean that it has ornamental features, including chains, animal print, and cut-out medallions. Ultimately, our version is all about the luxe, as can be demonstrated when you look at some of the peplum tops, dresses, and sunglasses popping up on the site. However, if you aren’t sure of how to do baroque, keep reading ’cause we’re gonna show you three very different looks.

(colorblock baroque maxi dress, textured oval necklace set, evil eye bead bracelet, abstract wooden bangle, skull and eye ring, and strappy velvet wedges)

Fave Summer Piece? It’s the Maxi!

As you’re undoubtedly aware, the GoJane office is full of impossibly chic fashionistas. But, given the skyrocketing temperature, even the most glamorous of us has had to admit that it is time to put away our patterned tights and perfectly cropped blazers. Fortunately, we have the promise of maxi dresses and maxi skirts to make this transition, dare we say, pleasant. If you’re still on the fence about maxis, take a look at our style gallery of fashionable bloggers rocking our must have summer piece. Oh, and we made sure to pull a few dresses we know you’re gonna swoon over.

Luxe for Less: Cassie

The Cannes International Film Festival may not seem like the obvious place to indulge in a bit of musical celebrity spotting. But, as pictures from the festival have trickled in, we kept noticing one woman: Cassie. This R&B songstress has continually impressed us, but the look we were definitely drooling over was her Salvatore Ferragamo jumpsuit and Givenchy kicks. Granted, at over $3,000 dollars, we knew we could never afford such a get-up and as such, got to creating our own. The result? A printed jumpsuit ensemble for a just over $105.

(leopard print sunglasses, colorful abstract jumpsuit, woven bangle set, studded handbag, and strappy low wedge sandal)

What did you think? What other celebrities would you like to see in Luxe for Less?

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Preview: Nightclub Dresses and Arm Bling

When we go out on the town ( for research purposes, we swear) we often see girls strutting their stuff in some of our fave nightclub dresses. Today, when we saw our models lounging about in slinky, spike-encrusted sheaths, we knew we had to show you immediately:

Of course, we don’t just do sexy frocks- we’re also all about cute and girly tops, including this one:

Yes, that is one of our fabulous stylists making sure our model looks completely on trend with a chunky necklace, embellished denim, and a quirky, hinge bracelet.

Fashion Face-Off: Vintage Graphic Band Tees’ Edition

We’re unapologetically girly at GoJane, but sometimes you’re feeling more gutter punk than glamazon. If that’s the case, try slipping on a comfortable and slouchy graphic band tee for a cool look that can take you from the class to the rock ‘n roll club. We recently saw two of our favorite ladies, Ashley Madekwe and Kristen Stewart, wearing vintage music tees and we knew it was time for another fashion face-off. So, take a look and vote in our poll for your fave.

Trend Report: The Return of Round Sunglasses

The temperature continues to rise and we continue to shed valuable layers in efforts to not completely roast. But, there is one delicious thing we get to add to our ensembles and we have a justifiable excuse for doing so: sunglasses. After all, a pair of sunnies is necessary for optimum ocular health, right? Right. But, you can’t just slip on the dusty frames you found underneath your bed- this season’s hottest shape is round. We’ve seen some of our fave style stars, including Nicki Minaj and model Abbey Lee Kershaw, rock these John Lennon-inspired shades, but we’re now bringing the look to you with this awesome photo gallery showing all the ways you can get round.

Luxe for Less: Rita Ora

A few weeks ago, as we were doing our daily gossip blog stroll, we came upon British sensation Rita Ora. With her platinum blond locks, sultry voice, and fun sense of style, we knew we had to try out a Luxe for Less look based on this soon-to-be superstar. The result? For less than $140 you can have this sexy and edgy Kim West ensemble Rita was recently spotted wearing.

(textured disc bead necklace, liquid finish dress, rhinestone inset watch, link bracelet, embellished cross ring, threaded friendship bracelet, and lace-up leatherette platform)

How to: Wear Jumpsuits

You know we love us a good runway look, but you know when we really feel something? When you notice that the coolest kid around is rocking something previously unattainable. And that’s the feeling we had with jumpsuits- sleek, sophisticated, sexy, but made for editors and not us mere mortals. Well, that’s what we were thinking until we saw the following street style snaps. We even picked three jumpsuits that we know you’re gonna seriously swoon over- what do you think of ’em?

Photo Gallery: Street Style Does Printed Shorts

As the mercury rises, we find ourselves sadly pushing our cozy cardigans and thickly knitted leggings to the back of our closet. Suddenly we can no longer rely on a patterned sweater or printed scarf to give our outfit that special something. Instead, in order to remain cool, we pare our outfits to the bare minimum in the form of shorts, slouchy tanks, and sandals. But, just ’cause you don’t have as much to play with doesn’t mean you have to resign yourself to boring basics. We assembled a gallery of our fave street style snaps featuring girls rocking printed shorts in order to show you that simple can still be stylish. So, take a look and make sure to tell us what your fave pic is and why.

Style Inspiration: The Chic Summer Blazer

Chances are you think of tanks and t-strap sandals when we mention summer. But, a light blazer is just as essential as your fave itsy bitsy bikini when the mercury rises. Why? ‘Cause there always seems to be a breeze when you’re dining on the patio at a hot new restaurant, not to mention the fact that some offices and classrooms are downright arctic. So, we pulled together dozens of street style pics with girls rocking blazers and oh yeah, our stylist chose the must have blazer for summer just for you. Take a look and make sure to tell us what your fave pic was and why.

Luxe for Less: Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens has been engaging in all the tell-tale behavior of former Disney stars- she’s had a photo scandal, been accused of engaging in recreational substances, and linked with a fellow celebrity hottie. Of course, just like any other young star, Vanessa is often spotted in designer goods and she seems to have a penchant for all things Giuseppe Zanotti. Fortunately, we managed to recreate one of Vanessa’s casual looks, but we did so for less than $150.

(from top to bottom: long sleeve button-up denim top, threaded friendship bracelets, embellished bangle quartet, stone swirl cuff bracelet, cuffed denim shorts, studded star front fringe purse,  and leatherette cowgirl boot)

Sneak Peek: Heel-less Platforms + Arm Bling

Just so you know, the behind the scenes photos you’re about to feast your eyes on were so incredibly fun to shoot and style. Why? Our lovely models had the chance to strut their stuff in some of  our fave ensembles. So, take a peek and make sure to tell us what item(s) you are lusting over.

This neon necklace is one of our fave accessories. Trust us when we tell you that you’ll be seeing it a lot more.

Jumpsuits and spiked bracelets? It’s definitely a GoJane dream come true.

Snakeskin and vegan leather heel-less platforms? No, you’re not dreaming, we pinky promise.

Our model getting caffeinated and rocking plenty of cool accessories.

Our models may or may not be doing Pilates in this picture.

Take note: you can do karate (or the running man?) in these heel-less platforms.Yep, they’re that comfortable.

Our model was such a good sport- she spent a good ten minutes jumping up and down so we could get a shot that was just right.

What GoJane is all about: racks of completely gorg clothes.

One of our photographers getting the perfect shot.

Optical illusion dresses are so in right now and we can’t wait for this dress to go on the site- it’s so chic.

Our model donning a Billy Idol scowl.

This lilac shirt happens to be sinfully silky and looks so amazing with all these cool bangles and woven bracelets, right?

Lace-up shorts for summer? Yes please!

Can’t decide what we love more- the semi-sheer floral blouse, bold oversized clutch, skull bracelets, or the shoes… Decisions, decisions!

Shhhh… preview of an upcoming blog post.

Denim is cool, especially when paired with this delightfully girly floral romper and stunning heel-less platforms.

Told you you’d see this necklace again!

Loving the bold lip. What about you?

Not only are these outfits amazing (definitely can’t wait to get our pedicured paws on some of those rings!), but our models look so good, right?!

Okay, so that’s all (for now), but we’ll be back soon with even more must-have goodies.  By the way, what was your favorite pic and why?

Luxe for Less: Jennifer Lawrence

It’s not exactly shocking that we love us some Jennifer Lawrence, but our love for all things The Girl on Fire was solidified when we saw how she handled her sudden rise to stardom. Specifically, despite the fact that she has an enviable bod and a face to melt even the coldest of hearts, she still seems all sorts of accessible, as does her style. We recently saw this Kentucky native leaving the airport and were blown away by her casually elegant ensemble. After all, it takes a special sort of girl to look chic after being holed up on an airplane for hours, right? We knew we had to recreate this look, but our version won’t cost nearly as much as Lawrence’s. Why? Well, she was rocking some seriously pricey lace-up oxfords courtesy of Lanvin at the tune of $1,200 a  pop. Fortunately, our nearly identical look will cost you a mere $150.

1. contrast frame sunglasses
2. rhinestone bow skull necklace
3. solid tuxedo blazer
4. striped bustier tube top
5. convertible leatherette backpack
6. basic five pocket skinny jeans
7. braided strappy platform

Celebrities + Street Style Bloggers Show You How to Wear Colored Jeans

Blue jeans are an American staple, but sometimes this tried and true wardrobe essential needs a dramatic makeover. The best way to do this? A bold hue, such as…

Red(Shenae Grimes, Amanda Seyfried, and Kate Middleton)

Purple(Nicky Hilton, Rachel Bilson, and Camilla Alves)

Turquoise(Drew Barrymore, Fearne Cotton, and Victoria Beckham)

However, it’s not just celebrities who are daring to slip on brightly hued bottoms. In fact, some of our fave snaps are from street style bloggers because they show us that you don’t have to be a star to look like one.

Do you own any brightly colored bottoms? What’s your fave way to style ’em?

Inspiration Gallery: Distressed Denim Shorts

As summer continues to march towards us, complete with promises of sand-filled bikinis and itchy sunburns, we find ourselves more and more excited by the promise of warm weather. Maybe it’s because we’re still middle schoolers at heart and as such, relish summer vacation (even if we’re at work), but we suspect that it’s actually because of a summertime sartorial staple: distressed denim shorts. After all, these versatile bottoms manage to go with everything, from flyaway blazers to graphic tees, and as such, we’re kinda in love. We pulled together a few snaps from some seriously stylish street snaps and of course, our lovely stylist chose four pairs to seriously improve your life.

If you wanna get in on the look, try one of the amazing choices below.

Luxe for Less: La La Vazquez

La La Vazquez became a public figure during her tenor on the pop culture punch Total Request Live. Once the show went off the air La La continued to permeate the public consciousness by hosting several VH1 shows, including Flavor of Love, I Love New York, and Charm School. Plus, her high-profile friendship with Kim Kardashian doesn’t hurt her popularity. But, you know what else this New York beauty is known for? Her cool and chic urban style. We recreated a recent look of this reality television diva at a charity event, but there is one startling difference: our entire look cost less than $150 whereas La La spent at least $900 on those sparkly Louboutins.

1. chain link teardrop earrings
2. flyaway cropped cardigan
3. jersey bodysuit
4. beaded spring bracelet
5. aztec print mini skirt
6. microstud embellished pump

Fashion Term of the Week: Mullet Hem

Chances are you’ve seen our models prancing around the front page in daring dresses that expose a lot of shin, but keep the calf hidden. But, did you know that this fashionable silhouette has an actual name? It’s known as the mullet hem or the high-low hem.  So, what are the characteristics of this cool cut? It’s pretty simple: all business in the front and party in the back.

This look has been threatening to take over for awhile now, but it’s now reached the point where you won’t get completely eviscerated if you decide to don this silhouette for school or work. Of course,  your mom may ask in tones of disgust, “What the hell is that?” (ed. note: My mom did!), but you’re also sure to get a few nods of approval.

Our fave way to try out the mullet hem? Slip on a sinfully soft short sleeve high-low tee, add leggings, slide on your fave pair of slouchy leatherette boots, and oh yeah, make sure you find plenty of cool girl accessories.

GoJane Featured on “Today”… Three Different Times!

This morning, between sips of tepid coffee and the exchange of weekend plans, we saw a pair of GoJane heels flash across the screen. Shaking our head we told ourselves that the early hour was messing with our sight, but then we saw something that we couldn’t possibly attribute to sleep deprivation: our name in flashing lights colorful and bold print on Today. Yes, a pair of our wedges had sashayed onto national television, but that wasn’t our sole brush with fame. Why? ‘Cause yet another ensemble featured our shoes.  Yes, in less than five minutes, America had thrice been exposed to GoJane. And we know that after seeing such fabulous footwear you probably wanna get your pedicured paws on them right now and who are we to deprive you of such pleasures?

The first pair we saw were on the editor of Life & Style. We recognized the flash of teal and coral because several of our stylists and writers own these very sexy cut-out suede peep toe pumps. In fact, these shoes appeared to be so popular with the Today crew that they were featured again in one of the outfits.

The second pair was a pair of wedge espadrilles that everyone has been salivating over.

So, in summation, GoJane is all sorts of famous and we have the approval of one of our fave glossies when it comes to fashionable footwear.

What was your favorite pair?

Luxe for Less: Miley Cyrus

During her Disney prime, we saw Miley Cyrus packaged as the all-American girl that both parents and kids could enjoy. Consequently, she was often outfitted in clothes that reflected her every girl style- cowboy boots, cute tees, and lots of denim. Yet, after celebrating her 18th birthday, a different Miley emerged- one with permanent ink, a penchant for  engaging in reefer madness, and oh yeah, there have been some instances of having too much fun with baked goods in the shapes of certain appendages. But, despite her edgier pursuits, one thing has remained constant: Miley’s style and sense of fashion is unique, relaxed, and admired by millions. With this in mind we created one of Miley’s signature looks, but our version won’t require you to have grossed serious coin by starring in a TV show with your dad. Curious as to how much this casual ensemble cost? Less than $100. Score!

1. wire frame aviator sunglasses
2. origami bird charm necklace
3. lace bandeau tube
4. flower crotchet tank
5. faded denim shorts
6. link design bracelet
7. oversized cross ring
8. western style leatherette boot

Three Looks Inspired by The Hunger Games

With an opening weekend of $155 million, we’re going to assume you probably saw The Hunger Games. Between all the brutal murder and commentary on a culture of entertainment at any cost, there was something else that made us squeal in delight and clap our hands excitedly: the fashion.

Throughout the  movie we’re confronted with protagonist Katniss Everdeen’s ever shifting take on style. In the beginning, armed with a bow and arrow, she races through the woods clad in leather riding boots and a fitted jacket. However, upon heading over to the capitol to participate in the Hunger Games she is given a makeover by the eternally cool Cinna, as played by Lenny Kravitz. When he outfits her in a costume of fire she quickly becomes The Girl On Fire and it is this notoriety which allows her to score lifesaving sponsorships during the Games. In fact, The Hunger Games is not only a story dedicated to the terrifying possibility of Orwellian surveillance or a political lust for blood. Instead, The Hunger Games focuses on the fact that clothes can very much make the man… er, woman.   In celebration of all things District 12 and Mockingjay, here are three looks inspired by Katniss Everdeen.

Look 1: The Huntress

1. leatherette hooded long sleeve jacket
2. dangling bird earrings
3. scoop neck tank
4. solid color skinny pants
5. double buckle leatherette riding boot

Why it works: In order to hunt Katniss needs to blend in with her surroundings, stay warm, and have plenty of movement. In the book, as well as the movie, we see her rocking plenty of muted neutrals, mainly black and brown.

Look 2: The Girl on Fire

1. cut-out stone inset earrings
2. cross over tank maxi dress
3. spiked stretch ring

Why it works: Katniss may be fighting to the death, but before she enters the arena she has to give a televised  interview to the country of Panem. The purpose of this interview? To gain sponsors for food, medicine, and weapons. While Katniss isn’t your stereotypically girly girl, she does clean up pretty nicely in a coral hued dress and accessories meant to re-enforce the idea that she is very much on fire.

Look 3: The Winner of the Hunger Games

1. mega shine lip gloss
2. shimmery mineral powder
3. chiffon cut-out back dress
4. threaded chain link bracelet
5. metallic t-strap sandal

Why it works: After winning the brutal Hunger Games Katniss, along with her partner from her home district, Peeta,  give another televised interview to celebrate their victory. Despite the fact that she had to slay several contestants for this dubious honor, Katniss’ stylist decks her out in an innocent frock and flats, as well as just a hint of makeup, to show the nation that she is still very much a child.

Did you see see the The Hunger Games this weekend? What did you think of the film’s looks?

Street Style Stalker: What Are Fashionistas’ Hottest Shoes?

Confession: we love shoes. Okay, we know that such an admission isn’t exactly breaking news, but the fact remains that we kinda sorta have an obsession with all things footwear. But, we also know you adore shoes as much as we do and as such, we don’t feel terrible about our shoe hoarding tendencies. Oh, and something else we forgot to mention: we sometimes indulge in some light stalking. Fortunately, our stalking is all for style, hence today’s post. Specifically, we clicked and searched and saved until we found all sorts of fashionable ladies, celebs and peons alike, who sported some seriously stylish shoes. So, take a look, get inspired, and make sure to show us how you rock your most fashionable kicks.

What was your favorite pair of shoes?

PS: One of our stylists kind offered us a few words of wisdom when she observed, “Chunky heel booties are huge for spring and will continue to be really popular for this year and into next.” Then, in a fit of general awesomeness, she quickly pulled three booties she thinks you’ll like. Thoughts?

How To: Wear a Bodysuit

We often see our fave celebrities strutting on stage in revealing bodysuits, but this look, along with teased wigs, armadillo heels, and triple layers of pantyhose, isn’t necessarily accessible to mere mortals. Above you’ll note that these divas look stunning, but not many of us have the body or the daring to rock a slinky bodysuit with little else. However, after poring over thousands of images on the ‘net we discovered that yes, you can wear a bodysuit and it can be an incredibly chic update to any look. Below you’ll see some of our fave ways to get bodied (yes, that was a Beyoncé reference) and oh yeah, make sure to show and tell us how YOU rock a bodysuit.

After extensively studying these images we have come to the conclusion that the trick to wearing a bodysuit is to use it as a quirky layering piece. As an added bonus, the perfect bodysuit will slim you down because it goes underneath your stylin’ skirt or pants.

Our Five Fave Shoes for Spring 2012

Every month we’re bombarded with declarations telling us what we need for the upcoming season. We find ourselves stressing over locating the perfect pair of flared trousers or scoring the semi-sheer printed shirt of our dreams. But, we often forget that there’s one super duper easy way to upgrade your outfit: shoes. So, for your enjoyment our stylist found the five pairs of shoes we know you’ll love for Spring 2012.

1. american flag lace-up bootie
Why you’ll love ’em:
These booties are flying off the shelves because they’re quirky, cute, and insanely comfortable. Plus, despite the seemingly wild print, they’re incredibly versatile.

2. polka dot bow accented heel

Why you’ll love ’em: The silhouette of this platform shoe is undeniably classic, but the print is fun and flirty. Additionally,  doesn’t the bow just feel like spring?

3. studded wedge

Why we love ’em: Wedge sandals are great for the warmer months, but some options can leave you feeling kinda bored. That’s why we’re loving these spiked wedges with metallic accents- the trim is modern and the spikes are completely on trend.

4. linen finish skimmer flat

Why we love ’em: A slightly unfinished vibe makes these flats so perfect for spring. We especially like the idea of pairing them with a flirty floral frock and if the weather is a little chilly, add a denim jacket.

5. zigzag toe sandal

Why we love ’em: Toe sandals happen to be a staple for spring, much like wedges, but you may find yourself uninspired by most options. However, that won’t be a problem with these tribal printed sandals because the pattern is funky and function as a way to dress up even the most boring of footwear.

Runway to Real Way: How to Rock Prints Like They Do On the Catwalk

Sometimes the runway reveals trends so outrageous we collectively shake our heads in disbelief and go about our day while muttering darkly about the state of fashion. Well, until a year later when we’re sporting the look we previously mocked, but significantly toned down (Alexander McQueen bumsters, anyone?). So, when we saw designers sending glamazons parading down the catwalk with printed pants, shirts, and shoes we knew that this year would be the year of mixing prints. But, seeing it on the runway doesn’t mean we know how to translate it in real life… until now. One of our lovely stylists pulled together three looks that she thinks you’ll love. Make sure to tell us what you think in the comments!

Trend Time!: Celebrities Love Their Long(er) Sleeves

Call it the Kate Middleton effect: celebrities and mere mortals alike are suddenly flocking to dresses that don’t dare to bare arms. Instead, we’re spotting an entire crop of fashionable ladies who are actually covering up and truthfully, we couldn’t be more pleased. Why? ‘Cause sometimes the weather doesn’t permit for us to show off our delts and other times we haven’t been diligently doing our tricep curls which means our arms look more tired than toned. We put together a gallery featuring some of your fave style stars rocking long sleeves, but before that make sure to check out Kate, the one who started it all.

We know these dresses were ah-maz-ing, but we also realize that not every one of us can drop thousands of dollars on Pucci, Chanel, and Dolce & Gabbana. But, don’t worry ’cause we have you covered (literally, as well as figuratively). Below you’ll see a few of our fave dresses that are completely on trend and won’t break the bank.

1. lace trim back dress
2. peter pan collar dress
3. neon lace layered dress
4. crochet back knit dress

What other celeb-inspired trends are you loving? By the way, make sure to tell us how YOU wear long sleeves!
