Happy Birthday, Kim Kardashian!

Whether you loathe her or love her, you can’t deny that her style game has gone off the charts. Sure, cleavage and side boob still make appearances, but her overall sleek makeover hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Not sure of how you heard the Kardashian name? Perhaps it was Kim’s iPhone game. No? Maybe her makeup line or clothing collections? Not to mention Keeping Up With The Kardashians, of course. What with being the famous mommy of a famous baby and one half of KimyeWell, Kim Kardashian has been a busy bee.

So it’s not surprising that there are over 20 million people who follow her on Instagram and 24.5 million people who read her tweets. She’s probably getting a lot of birthday wishes right now, one of which shall be ours: Happy birthday, Kim!

Peep this gallery for those looks we were gabbing about.

Also, can we just pause (“Imma-let-you-finish”) and look at this by the way? Kanye being a gentleman. Ugh, so cute. Even some of the iciest Kimye haters must have thawed a tiny bit when they saw these photos.

Fashion Designers & Their Famous Furry Friends

Ah, it’s all about the finer things in life, isn’t it? And no one knows that better than famous designers and their furry friends. These precious pooches and coddled cats really live the refined life in junior sized couture, comfy beds, and grooming treatments that probably surpass our own.

Choupette Lagerfeld has her own iPad, two maids, and eats at the table with the Kaiser himself. Would we expect anything less? Jason Wu was inspired by his adorable kitties Peaches and Jinxy. Bean Altuzarra matches Joseph in tiny hooded parkas and crewneck tops. Gaspar Herrera has been forever immortalized by Carolina Herrera in an adorable puppy print.

Must we go on? Get to clicking already! Do you have a “pet”? (We use the term “pet” loosely here since they’re family members more than anything.) What’s the most “designer” thing you’ve ever done for them? We’re nosy and want to know.

Tuesday Tunes: BANKS

It’s all about the Tuesday tune-age over here at the office. We’ve been thinking about Coachella since it’s coming up (yay), and one of our favorite up-and-coming artists, BANKS, will be there (yay, again). But who is Banks?

Let us give you the 411. Her name is Jillian Banks (styled BANKS). She’s twenty-five, based out of LA, and her major label debut album is coming out this spring. Her lyrics are dark and soulful – think R&B with seductive electronic touches – and she recently toured with The Weeknd. In an era where social media reigns king, Banks chooses to let her management team maintain her Facebook page and Twitter account. However, Banks listed her personal digits with the statement, “if you ever want to talk.” Way to make us swoon; please be our BFF.

The bottom line is that we’re in love with her voice and style (she seems to favor black). Peep our gallery of her super cool style, shop our inspired picks, and make sure to do it while listening to her amazing tunes.

Texas Bound: 2014 SXSW Recap

It’s as if spring heralds the return of a new year with the advent of what is now being dubbed “festival season.” Epic among industry names, SXSW (South By Southwest) is an amalgam of films, music performances, and conferences that takes place annually in Austin, Texas. But let’s get down to the nitty gritty about the happenings that took place this year.

We will never stop loving Lady Gaga for her reinvention and theatrics, and as the keynote presenter and headlining act, she did not disappoint. In a one-hour show, sponsored by Doritos, an oversized roasting spit and a mechanical pig functioned as eccentric props, and a vomit artist threw up on Gaga’s chest (phew!). Stuffed with creative vision and just the right touch of weird, Lady Gaga wasn’t all about theatrics and threw out earnest vocals that sucked in the crowd.

And the list of heavy-hitters didn’t stop there. 50 Cent (genuinely showing off an “indie” reinvention), Kanye, Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Steve Aoki, Skrillex, Childish Gambino, and Soundgarden (for all you 90s lovers) all made appearances. One of our fave chicks, Charli XCX, performed along with LA buzz bands and K-pop stars. Kelis – who apparently also had a themed food truck to coincide with her new release – served up jerk ribs, duck confit sliders, BBQ, and coleslaw.

A$AP Rocky premiered his film “SVDDXNLY,” and a Jimi Hendrix biopic was shown with Andre 3000 playing the doomed rocker.  Snoop Dogg, Phantogram, and The 1975 had live tapings (we’re going to start scouring YouTube to relive those moments). And who wouldn’t want to see the fabulous Janelle Monae belt out tunes? Let’s just say SXSW knows how to serve up a feast for the senses, even for the nerds – all hail Neil deGrasse Tyson!

But we can’t end this post without addressing the tragedy that occurred. It’s a reminder that at the end of the day nothing is as important as the fragility of life and our loved ones. In spite of all the grief, let’s remember all of the great things that happened during SXSW and appreciate the goodness that came out of it.

Inspiration Gallery: Quirky, Graphic, and Colorful

Nope, winter doldrums haven’t surfaced over here. Not to make subzero inhabitants weep or whatever, but we’re experiencing sunny 70 degree weather. However, we care a lot about all of our readers and feel it’s time to blast your peepers full of color, pattern, and all things fun and quirky. Just remember, warm weather will be back before you know it, and we’re here to help with a little pick-me-up.

Are you ready? This gallery is a sumptuous feast, and if you’re a neutral loving girl it’ll be a one-two style punch of COLOR, COLOR, COLOR. Did you imagine those words blinking like a neon sign? We did. Okay, go click through this gallery.

Now that you’ve seen the gallery, we gotta say it takes a certain kind of devil-may-care attitude to step out of your comfort zone and wear something that will wildly draw attention to you, positive and negative alike. But hey, life is short, and if you feel like wearing mustard yellow shoes with sparkles, then you better darn well wear them. After all, isn’t fashion all about dressing for you? Duh, rhetorical question.

Anyway, nothing says style like planning a season ahead, so go ahead and peruse the gallery and shop your little heart out with our GoJane inspired picks. Then you better comment and tell us what you got and what you’re styling it with and maybe attach a picture or five, k? K.

Style Crush: Haim

Our love for Haim (insider tip: it rhymes with time) isn’t new (their album dropped last year to hugely positive reviews), but since they’re embarking upon a pretty long tour we thought a kick-off post was fitting. Plus, the 2014 Coachella lineup has been released and big surprise – JAYKAY, NOT – Haim will be playing at this iconic desert festival. (Will you be attending? Come find us. Let’s be friends.)

Okaayyy, we’ll try to stop sounding like the rabid fan girls we kind of are, but seeing Haim live will be a treat for the ears and the eyes. Have you seen these chicks rocking, well, everything? They’ve mastered denim, leather, faded tees, and cropped tops with stylish ease. Their long manes have the perfect amount of that oh-so-easy wave. Their lipst…um, we’ll stop now because it started sounding creepy. Just take a gander at the gallery below for super steezy inspiration.

As for the music? Well, this talented trio of sisters has been compared to Fleetwood Mac with a dash of Wilson Phillips. While the comparisons make total sense, Haim definitely has their own unique take on the music scene. Sit back, relax, and listen to some sweet, sweet tune-age while you browse our take on their style.

Style Crush: Solange

We all know Beyoncé, but her baby sister Solange is nothin’ to sneeze at. She’s been pretty darn busy, and anyone that has listened to her EP True knows just how talented she is.  Plus, she’s gorgeous and knows how to mix prints and sport her natural ‘do like a boss. Peep Solange doing her thing this weekend at FYF (a musical festival held at L.A. State Historic Park) and make sure to take note of her rad looks in the gallery.

Style Crush: Robyn

She’s sassy, honest, and not afraid to dance on her own, and we love her all the more for it. Robyn has super unique style and her short platinum ‘do is ever present as a signature touch. Plus, the girl can rock flatform shoes like no other. Scroll through the gallery to peep her style, pick up some ideas, and check out GoJane’s Robyn inspired ensemble.

2013 Billboard Music Awards: Memorable Moments & Fabulous Fashion

Despite Miguel kicking a couple of girls in the head, Justin Bieber getting booed,  and Nicki Minaj getting a little down and dirty, we thought the Billboard Music Awards were pretty entertaining. When you throw Tracy Morgan and a bunch of crazy musicians in the same room, how could you not end up with an awesome show? We compiled a few of our favorite moments from the show, whose style and performances were you loving the most?

Style Crush: Cara Delevingne

We love every bit of Cara Delevingne, from her ridiculously funny faces to her bold eyebrows and impeccable street style. She’s one seriously cool girl. Not to mention that she models for some of the top designers in the world. Lately, we’ve been totally inspired by her casual off-duty looks, though. Scroll through for some seriously amazing inspiration!

Style Crush: Soo Joo Park

With her peroxide hued hair and otherworldly bone structure, Soo Joo Park is one of our latest style crushes. Not only has she perfected that perfectly cool California look, but she’s also given us tons of styling ideas. Anyways, check out our gallery of all things SJP and let us know what you’re lovin’, deal?

Happy Birthday, Jessie J!

Jessie J is pretty much the epitome of cool. Not only can the girl sing (and we mean sing), she also manages to effortlessly go from Hollywood glam to rocker chick in a matter of minutes. Or maybe hours. Plus, she recently shaved her head for charity. How many celebrities would give up their locks to fight poverty and social injustice? We’re thinking not too many. Oh, and remember when she performed with a broken leg? Yeah, she totally rocks our socks off. So happy 25th birthday, Jessie J! We’ll leave the birthday tune to you.

SxSW Recap: Movies, Music, and Seriously Cool Street Style

We may have missed all the live action at South by Southwest this year, but we were definitely following along virtually. With tons of musicians, movie stars, techies, and fans in one place, the fashion definitely didn’t disappoint. Here are a few of our favorite looks and moments!

What did you think of SxSW this year?

Happy Birthday, Kat Von D

True story: one of the GoJane writers’ mom had Kat Von D as a student in the eighth grade. And while Kat didn’t have any tats at the tender age of thirteen, she did have plenty of talent. We guess it shouldn’t shock us that the now famous tattoo artist showed plenty of promise at an age when most of us were more concerned with pizza than careers. Anyways, happy birthday birthday, Kat Von D!

Happy Birthday, Ke$ha

With plenty of tracks guaranteed to get the party pumpin’, along with an aesthetic based almost entirely on the idea that the more glitter, the better, Ke$ha is the kind of girl we’d totally want to party with. Plus, we think she’d be rad to spend the day with scavenging our local thrift shops for leather jackets and bodysuits reminiscent of Jane Fonda circa 1983. Today is the songstress’s 26th birthday and as such, we’re celebrating with tons of photos.

Are you a Ke$ha fan?

PS: Did anyone see the most recent episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race? One of the contestants dressed up as Ke$ha- that’s some serious cultural legitimacy, ya’ll.

Style Crush: Kimbra

The second we heard Kimbra belt out a verse on Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” we were in love. She has got some serious pipes, and we were excited to see she had some serious style, too. Really, how could a woman who just goes by her first name not be fabulous? With her incredibly eclectic sense of style, we’re crushing big time.

You can find floral dresses, moto jackets, and booties to replicate Kimbra’s looks on the GoJane site.

2013 Academy Awards: Magnificent Music and Gorgeous Gowns Galore

Holy smokes. The 85th Academy Awards last night was definitely a night to remember. From a pretty stellar performance about boobs by Seth McFarlane to Ben Affleck’s fastest acceptance speech ever, the whole thing had us mesmerized. Not to mention all the gorgeous gowns and cleaned-up men. We may have been drooling a little during the entire show. In case you missed it, here are a few of our highlights!
