Under Wraps: DIY Chocolate Pretzel Mummies

❤ By Hannah Blu

Nothing brings out our insatiable sweet tooth quite like the coming of All Hallow’s Eve. With just days to go until trick-or-treat, we’re currently salivating at the thought of candy apples, candy corn, and Halloween candies galore. Our favorite sugary goody for a spook-tastic snack? DIY chocolate-covered mummy pretzels!

These salty-sweet treats are perfect for a last-minute Halloween party or office potluck. They take mere minutes to make with minimal ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry! Just follow our simple steps for a festive recipe that’ll make it super easy to ~wrap up~ your haunted holiday party prep.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • Pretzel rods
  • Wax paper or a silicone baking pad

What You’ll Do:

Step 1: Melt white chocolate chips in a double boiler according to package instructions (we used a Pyrex bowl over 2 inches of hot but not quite boiling water).

Step 2: Remove melted chocolate from double boiler and allow to cool slightly. Dip pretzel rod into melted chocolate and tap excess off on the side of the bowl. Lay chocolate-dipped pretzels onto a wax-paper-lined baking sheet to set.

Step 3: Spoon excess chocolate into a Ziploc bag and snip one corner to create a piping tool. Drizzle chocolate onto each rod in zigzag formations.

Step 4: Repeat steps 1 and 2 with dark chocolate chips. Spoon melted chocolate into a separate Ziploc bag, snip a small piece from the corner, then squeeze tiny dots onto the rods for eyes. Allow mummies to set, then refrigerate or enjoy immediately!

Makeup Monday: How To (Properly) Apply Glitter Nail Polish

❤ By Hannah Blu

We can’t help but go gaga for glitter, especially when it comes to nail polish. But the messy, time-consuming process of applying (and removing) glitter lacquer often deters us from rocking the blinged-out shades we love. It’s downright exhausting having to meticulously maneuver each glitter particle into place!

With Halloween and the holiday season approaching, we needed a solution, stat. So when we learned about this amazing manicurist hack, we just had to share it! The trick is to apply glitter polish with a sponge rather than the included brush. The sponge soaks up excess polish, resulting in a perfectly opaque glitter layer. Follow these easy steps for swoon-worthy sparkly nails!

What You’ll Need:

  • A smoothing base coat
  • A peel-off nail polish barrier (we used Kiesque Liquid Palisade, but any brand of liquid latex will do)
  • A triangle makeup sponge
  • Glitter nail polish (we used Deborah Lippmann “Happy Birthday”)
  • A high-shine, quick-dry top coat

What You’ll Do:

Step 1: Apply a layer of base coat. This gives the glitter something to adhere to, upping the longevity of your mani.

Step 2: Apply a peel-off nail polish barrier to the surrounding cuticle.

Step 3: Paint a generous amount of your favorite glitter nail polish onto the edge of the sponge.

Step 4: Dab the glitter polish onto your nail with the sponge and repeat until you’re satisfied with the coverage.

Step 5: Carefully peel off the nail polish barrier.

Step 6: Apply a generous layer of top coat to smooth out and lock in the glitter.

…And that’s it! You can finally achieve the accent nail of your dreams – life-changing, right?

Style Report: 3 Fashion Week Trends You Can Wear Now

❤ By Hannah Blu

Don’t you just love the smell of fresh fashion in the air? This week rounds out yet another eventful fashion month, and we’ve gotta say that the Spring/Summer ready-to-wear collections have been equally surprising and delightful. From model-designer collaborations to fun, unexpected details, the runways were overflowing with major style #inspo.

But who wants to wait until next year to rock the trends we’re loving now? Not us! That’s why we’re bringing you three of our favorite Fashion Week trends that are totally wearable for the current season and the ones to come!

Take one of these trends for a spin – just tap your favorite pieces to shop!

Navy Reserves: Tommy Hilfiger’s highly anticipated capsule collection with supermodel / GoJane #GirlCrush Gigi Hadid debuted at NYFW, and it’s already flying off shelves. If you haven’t been able to score one of their coveted nautical-inspired styles, don’t fret. We’ve got the perfect pieces to wear for your idyllic seaside escape before chilly weather hits!

Plume Service: While these luxe details are usually reserved for fall and winter, feathers and fur were a highlight of the Spring ’17 shows. Prada and Ralph Lauren displayed colorful coats constructed in plush fur and trimmed with opulent ostrich feathers. To get the look for less, try rocking feathers and fur on your feet by way of fluffy straps, pouf accents, and cozy ankle cuffs.

Dose of Decadent Florals: As always, Dolce & Gabbana’s RTW collection featured plenty of the label’s signature floral motifs. It was – wait for it – groundbreaking! More sensuous than the traditional spring floral, these dimensional designs are perfect for transitioning into fall and winter. Once spring rolls around, you’ll already be ahead of the game, sartorially speaking.

Fall Fashion Trend: Gothic Glam

❤ By Hannah Blu

Get ready to descend into a deeper, darker side of fashion for fall. This season, we’re taking cues from the likes of Wednesday Addams and the girls from The Craft with our glam take on Gothic style. Per tradition, black is best, but sultry jewel tones will do too. When it comes to texture, the more the better. It’s all about lace and crushed velvet plus out-of-this-realm accessories to match.

*Goth* to have this look? Tap on your fave items to shop ’em now!

Crush On Plush: Everyone knows that velvet is the “it” texture for fall, but it’s also a quintessential goth wardrobe staple. Rich, moody hues offer a sensuous alternative to black, while ruffled necklines and bell sleeves conjure up some witchy-chic vibes (think Maleficent, not Hermione Granger).

Go For Baroque: Mark our words – brocade is gonna be big for fall. To get the look, try a filigreed piece with ornate scroll and quill detailing. Create even more Gothic glamour by upping the textural impact with velvet and mesh details. The result: an elegant yet edgy look for any autumnal event.

Just In Lace: A cornerstone of Gothic fashion, Victorian lace is one of the key components in the trend’s latest revival. This traditionally romantic textile gets a vampy upgrade with elements like tiered skirts, sweeping silhouettes, and exaggerated sleeves inspired by capes and trains.

The Necks Best: It’s easy to rock the haute goth style with Victorian-influenced jewelry. The choker is already this year’s most sought-after accessory, but intricate scalloped lace, vintage-inspired brooches, and symbolic pendants add the perfect amount of avant-garde glam.

#HairInspo: Easy Rope Braid Tutorial

❤ By Hannah Blu

When the weather gets hot, sticky, and humid, the last thing you need is a high-maintenance hairstyle making things even more unbearable. If you’re anything like us, you may have resorted to throwing your hair up in a messy bun or ponytail every day this summer. As a matter of fact, we now have permanent dents in our hair from wearing it up all season long (*sigh*).

If you’re so over the typical up-do, try this seriously cool runway-inspired twist! This easy-to-achieve style keeps your hair off your neck while looking effortlessly chic and polished. Plus, it’s totes work-appropriate and perfect for working up a sweat on the dance floor with your girls. Talk about versatile!

Get the look by following these 5 easy steps!

Step 1: Brush hair back into a high ponytail and secure with a hair tie.

Step 2: Run a smoothing styling cream through the ponytail, then separate the ponytail into two symmetrical sections.

Step 3: Twist both sections in a clockwise motion.

Step 4: Wrap the strands around each other in a counter-clockwise motion.

Step 5: Secure the end of the braid with a hair tie. Voila – you’re done!

Bomber Babe: The classic bomber jacket is a style essential that continues to be reinvented season after season, and we’re not even mad about it. Show off your high-waisted bottoms with a cropped silhouette or go grunge in an oversized, patch-embellished style. For a night out, luxurious satin lends a bit of sexiness to this time-honored trend.

A combination of all-American sportiness and delicate oriental-inspired detail, they’ve since evolved into sartorial symbols of badassery. And like keepsakes, super fun to collect!

#Trendspotting: Operation Camo Chic

❤️ By Hannah Blu

Looking to add some bad-ass edge to your fall wardrobe? Luckily, you won’t have to join up to rock a trendy military-inspired look. Thanks to the folks at designer houses like Versace and Valentino, camo has infiltrated mainstream fashion, thus providing us civilians with endless ways to don army-influenced gear for everyday.

While the traditional camouflage print is used by soldiers to blend into their surroundings, this season’s chic renditions are meant to make you stand out from the crowd. And all it takes is one piece to transform your summer neutrals into fall favorites. Don’t believe us? Scroll down to see how you can update your look with an army jacket or a pair of camo bottoms!

Top Guns

When you think of fall fashion, the first thing that comes to mind is outerwear, right? Oversized military jackets get a cool upgrade with grunge-influenced vintage patches, while always-appealing bombers and track jackets pop with the season’s raddest pattern. Throw an army-inspired jacket over a white tee and slip on your favorite aviator sunnies for a commando-cool vibe.

Passion For Clashin’: Mixing Floral Prints

❤️ By Hannah Blu

Thanks to Meryl Streep’s amazing Anna Wintour impression in The Devil Wears Prada, we’re well aware that floral prints aren’t exactly groundbreaking for warm weather fashion. The runways are abloom with flower-patterned styles every spring and summer, solidifying the fact that this perennial print isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The question is: How do we update our floral print game each season? By mixing and matching, of course! Today we’re showing you how to chicly combine your favorite patterns and classic florals without looking like you got dressed in the dark.

Hot To Dot: Bold, spotted prints are equally as timeless as florals. Try this retro-inspired polka dot minidress paired with a floral print bomber jacket for a modernized pin-up look. The jacket’s satiny texture and edgy chinoiserie print add an urban-glam feel to the ensemble. Just finish the look with perforated chunky heels for the ideal date-night outfit!

Stripe A Match: We adore pairing stripes with florals for a preppy vibe with a hint of girly attitude. For this look, a nautical-striped, off-the-shoulder top tucks into an ultra feminine rose-printed flare skirt for a cute and quirky way to wear mixed prints this season. Combined with strappy heels, this outfit is perfect for a garden wedding, tea party, or shower!

Field Of Flowers: Floral-on-floral can be the trickiest trend to pull off. When mixing floral prints, try to stick with a simple color palette for your base (like the black and white palm frond design shown here). For your topper, opt for a slightly more spaced-out pattern with complementary hues and grounding solid accents – your outfit will be perfectly mismatched without appearing too busy.

Sunnies 4 All: The Best Glasses For Every Face Shape

❤️ By Hannah Blu

While we take pride in sporting our sunnies all year long, we’re happy to announce that the ultimate season for shades is officially upon us. The sun’s out in full strength, which means it’s more crucial than ever to protect your peepers from harmful UV rays. (Say no to squinting, ladies!)

With so many styles of sunglasses out there, it can be a struggle to find the perfect pair for your face shape. But today we’ve taken the guesswork out of shade-shopping so you can spend your summer doing more important things…like sipping bottomless mai tais on the beach! All you have to do is identify your facial structure, and you’ll find your sunnie soul mate…

Wanna snag these shades? Simply click on your faves to shop them now!

Round: If you have a rounded face shape, it’s best to avoid small and circular frames, which tend to exaggerate fuller cheeks. Opt instead for oversized rectangular sunglasses or frames that boast angular lines. The goal is to define and elongate the face by emphasizing your cheekbones, much like you would with contouring makeup.

In The Octagon Wire Sunglasses See A New Angle Sunglasses All Angles Mirrored Sunglasses Modern Moment Cat-Eye Sunglasses Image Map

Square: When you’re blessed with a defined jawline and sharp cheekbones, squared or rectangular frames can look especially harsh. Soften your look with rounded sunnies that serve to balance out a strong facial structure. Frames with curved edges and cat-eye corners are excellent for square-shaped faces, as they give angular faces added length and lift.

Heart: Aviator lovers, rejoice! These trendy frames are best for heart-faced gals because of their softly tapered edges, which complement the delicate narrowing of a heart-shaped face. Just remember to choose a frame that fits the size of your face; oversized aviators can easily overpower a small face, especially when you factor in colored or mirrored lenses.

Oval: We envy you ladies with oval-shaped faces… You can basically wear any style of sunnies you want! From aviators to rectangular frames to John-Lennon-esque round wire styles, you’re free to experiment with sunglasses in all shapes, colors, and sizes. But don’t stop there – since you clearly can go four-eyed, try out a pair of statement glasses for a totally chic look.

See The White: 3 Ways To Wear An LWD

❤️ By Hannah Blu

The “no white after Labor Day” rule was likely conceived shortly before the turn of the 20th century, but some still consider post-summer white a fashion faux pas. We don’t know about you, but we love breaking the rules, especially when it comes to shaking things up in chic LWDs. Coco Chanel famously wore white all year long, and we can’t argue with her style choices, now can we?

White dresses aren’t just for brides and beach babes anymore… Today’s LWDs are totally wearable for any occasion and season. So, in true Coco fashion, we’ve styled three swoon-worthy white looks that you can wear before and after Labor Day, hopefully without an ounce of judgement.

Did we do white right? Shop these looks by simply clicking on your favorite pieces!

Day-To-Night White Delight

All-white is chic and sophisticated – perfect for a day at the races, a garden party, or a celebratory dinner. An off-shoulder mini in sweet floral lace makes the perfect base, while strappy sandals and a classic quilted bag up the elegance factor. Got a party-packed day ahead? No prob! Plan on a colorblock sun hat for day and a string of faux pearls for evening… You’re good to go!

  • Makeup Bag: It’s inevitable – sand and water always manage to get into our stuff. There’s nothing we hate more than sand in our favorite lip balm, so we always pack our products in a handy makeup bag. Bonus: This cute pouch doubles as a wristlet that fits your phone, keys, wallet, and other essentials!

Shoe Down: 4 Styles You Need For Summer

❤️ By Hannah Blu

We’ve been rocking our sandals here in sunny SoCal since February (#SorryNotSorry for the humble brag), but we know that many of you are just starting to retire your heavy winter boots in favor of more…breathable options. Believe it or not, summer is only weeks away, and that means it’s time to break out the hot weather gear and flock to your nearest body of water.

There’s a reason summer is our favorite season – we love all the fun and fabulous footwear choices that come with it!  That’s why we’ve compiled our top shoe picks, to sport wherever you go this summer…

Woven Wonders: Huarache Sandals

Your summer wouldn’t be complete without a comfy pair of sandals that can be paired with almost any outfit. That’s where huarache-inspired styles come in. These intricately woven shoes dress up your denim shorts like no pair of flip-flops could ever do. They also look ultra chic and laid-back when paired with breezy frocks or flowy maxi skirts.

Tied For First: Gladiators

It’s no secret that gladiators are a summertime shoe staple. They’re perfect for adding a little drama to your favorite leg-baring looks. Go for a classic lace-up design or liven things up with gladiators that boast boho-inspired accents, unique straps, or rich hues. (We adore this burnt orange shade.)

All About Jute: Espadrilles

Fashion houses like YSL and Chanel transformed what were once mere peasant shoes into the chic, luxurious style statements you know today as espadrilles. The quintessential summer shoe, espadrilles have been updated with lace-up accents and d’Orsay-inspired silhouettes. The casual jute rope sole design also makes for one gorgeous wedge!

Nature Lover: Wooden Platforms

The sun is shining, and now’s the time to embrace all that nature has to offer. For your next picnic or lunch date, try wooden platforms that add a touch of rustic flare to summertime sandals and mules. Don’t worry, though… No trees were harmed in the making of these shoes. These faux wood platforms are totes eco-chic!

Makeup Monday: Wine Eye Shadow Uncorked

❤️ By Hannah Blu

It seems like just yesterday that everyone was going mad for Marsala. (Guess that’s what happens when Pantone selects its illustrious Color of the Year.) But judging by red carpets the world over, we still can’t get enough of that stunning earthy-wine shade. From Gigi Hadid to Olivia Wilde, the burgundy eye shadow trend has been taking over 2016… And we’ve been dying to try it ourselves!

When done right, red-toned eye shadow can make any eye color pop. For this tutorial, we mixed burgundy with copper for even more eye-enhancing impact. Pair this bold eye look with a subtle nude lip or go all out with a matching Marsala lip color for a totally on-trend monochrome makeup glam.

What You’ll Need:

  • Eye shadow primer
  • Pink blush or eye shadow (We used NARS blush in “Angelika”)
  • A fluffy synthetic blending brush
  • Burgundy cream eye shadow (We used NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in “Rust”)
  • A pointed eye shadow brush
  • Copper shimmer eye shadow (We used ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in “Game Face”)
  • Black eyeliner pencil
  • Your favorite mascara

What You’ll Do:

As always, start by applying a smudge-proof eye shadow primer to the entire eyelid.

  1. Using a fluffy eye shadow brush, apply the pink shade to the crease in a sweeping motion.
  2. Apply the burgundy cream eye shadow to the lid, stopping at the crease.
  3. With the fluffy brush, blend the cream eye shadow into the pink crease color using small circular motions.
  4. Apply the burgundy shade to the lower lash line and blend using the pointed brush.
  5. Using the same pointed brush, pat and blend the copper eye shadow onto the center of the eyelid and lower lash line.
  6. Finish the look with black eyeliner and a generous coat of mascara.

Fashion Throwback: ’90s Revival

❤️ By Hannah Blu

There are certain aspects of ’90s fashion that we’d rather not remember – we’re looking at you, windbreaker pants that could be unzipped into shorts or capris (*cringe*). But like all eras eventually do, the ’90s have been experiencing a major fashion revival lately…  And we’re totally diggin’ it.

That’s right, folks – the ’90s are back in all their glory. The Backstreet Boys are reunited, Fuller House is a thing, and we’re all rocking tattoo chokers like we invented the damn things. But the ’90s were also a tumultous time, style-wise, which is why we’ve compiled a go-to guide for embracing this rad fashion renaissance the modern way.

Think we’d post pics without making them clickable? AS IF. Just tap your faves to shop ’em now!

Not-So-Clueless Chokers

’90s-inspired chokers have been spotted on all your favorite celebs and style icons. That’s because they provide a chic way to add an edgy, it-girl element to your look. (Think Kate Moss and Winona Ryder circa 1995.) And while the tattoo chokers we collected in middle school are still hot today, fashionistas are now bringing the look to a new level with layered chokers in mixed materials.

Totally Tight Crop Tops

These days, crop tops aren’t just a trend – they’re a way of life. But did you know this midriff-skimming top had its big break in the ’90s? The Spice Girls brought it to the forefront of fashion, and who could blame them? What better shows off your toned tummy than a cute cropped tee! Now crop tops dominate both runway and street, so we think these babies are here to stay.

Super Fly Overalls

We admit it – overalls were our jam back in the day, especially when worn with one shoulder strap casually unhooked. Well, we’re happy to tell you that they’re back and cooler than ever. Gone are the days of frumpy dungarees – today’s overalls are gussied up with svelte silhouettes and deliciously distressed details for a more contemporary vibe.

Wonderfully Wicked Jellies

Time to rejoice – jellies aren’t just for tots anymore! This ’90s kid favorite is all grown up now, boasting edgy upgrades like lug soles, platforms, and sky-high wedges. Don’t worry, though – the glitter-laden jellies you loved as a child are still all that and a bag of chips!

Bitchin’ Combat Boots

We can’t say we envied Angela Chase’s love life (although Claire Danes did get to smooch ’90s mega-babe Jared Leto 😍), but we definitely recall being super jelly of her grungy-chic combat boots on My So-Called Life. Combat boots have come a long way since ’94. Today colorful patterns and heel variations continue to rejuvenate this timeless grunge look.

Makeup Monday: Designated Smoky Section

❤️ By Hannah Blu

It might seem like it would take a lifetime to master the sultry, lived-in smoky eye you see on all your favorite celebs. But it actually only takes a few simple steps – and even fewer products – to achieve this dreamy makeup look.

The key to a chic, effortless smoky eye is a warm-toned matte crease, which gives the look a softer, more seamless effect. In fact, we’re forgoing shimmer and shine altogether and opting for an all-matte style that is super smoldering and totally cool…

What You’ll Need:

What You’ll Do:

  1. Apply a crease-proof eye shadow primer all over the lid from lashline to browbone.
  2. Line the upper lashline with a smudgy black kohl pencil. (It doesn’t have to be perfect – we’re gonna smudge it out during the next step.)
  3. Using a pencil brush, take a matte black eyeshadow and gently smudge the kohl liner into the lashline.
  4. Use a small, flat brush to apply the same black eyeshadow in upward strokes from the lashline toward the outer corner of the eye.
  5. Apply a warm terracotta eyeshadow to the crease using a fluffy brush, blending out any harsh lines as you go.
  6. Apply the black eyeshadow along the lower lashline using your pencil brush.
  7. With the pencil brush, blend the terracotta shade into the black eyeshadow on the lower lashline.
  8. Line the lower waterline with the black kohl eyeliner.
  9. Curl your lashes and add as many coats of mascara as your little heart desires.
