#LastMinuteHalloween: Wild Thing Edition

❤ By Amy Tsai

Can you believe we’re already into mid-October? We’ve been enjoying fall so much that we’ve neglected all of our autumnal duties – including finding a Halloween costume! With less than three weeks left until the big day, we’re thinking about forgoing a costume altogether and just throwing something together last minute…

And what’s one of the easiest themes to pull off? A wild cat! Whether your preference is leopard, cheetah, black panther, or regular ol’ housecat, chances are you have some of the elements already and can pick up the rest just like that. We’re not kitty you! So avoid a Halloween cat-astrophe and check our our tips for an a-meow-zing costume.

  1. The Fur – We don’t have to tell you that there are a million choices out there for the body part of your costume, so just pick a print (scale and color considered) that you like! For a fancier party, we’d go with a sweeping maxi, but if you’re taking some kiddies trick-or-treating, a saucy little romper would be both cute and functional!
  2. The Paws – You can’t have a kitty cat costume without covering your feet in something spectacularly spotted too! We love pattern-covered knee- and thigh-highs, but you could also go a little more subtle. Maybe an elegant printed d’Orsay heel? Or just a classic pointy pump with a faux fur pom-pom on the back…
  3. The Rest – And speaking of faux fur pom-poms, why not finish your wild thing look off with all the faux fur you can find? Like pom-pom earrings or a vegan leather snapback with an oversized furball on top. Or, if you wanna avoid hat hair, get your Ariana Grande on with an adorable cat ear headband. ‘Cause you are kitty, hear you RAWR.

So Two-Faced: How To DIY Emoji Pumpkins

❤ By Amy Tsai

It’s finally October, which means we can officially start counting down to Halloween – shopping for candy, thinking up costume ideas, carving pumpkins, and putting up decorations. But could your Halloween pumpkins use a little more…emotion this year? Maybe think about skipping the regular ol’ jack-o-lantern, ’cause we’ve got the perfect thing: emoji pumpkins!

These DIY emoji pumpkins will be so adorable included in your Halloween decorating this year, and you’ll be able to incorporate those emoticons you use in text and social media into your regular life! You know what else? They’re double-sided! Happy on one side and sad/angry on the other. Two-faced and too cute! Keep reading to find out how to make ’em…

What You’ll Need:

  • One or more pumpkins! (We used mini whites)
  • Paint brush or sponge
  • Yellow paint
  • Black permanent marker
  • Optional: Paints or permanent markers in white, blue, and pink (depending what emojis you decide to recreate)

photo 222.PNG

What You’ll Do:

  1. Start by brushing or sponging on a thin but full-coverage layer of yellow paint, leaving the stems untouched. Let dry completely before proceeding.

photo 11.PNG

2. Using a black marker, draw on the outline of your chosen happy emoji. If your emoji requires other colors, fill them in, let them dry, then touch them up with black marker.

photo 1.PNG

3. On the direct opposite side, repeat the process with your sad or angry emoji.

And that’s it! Perfect for your windowsill or office desk. Want people to know your current mood? Just flip to the side you’re feeling at the moment, and your little yellow friend will do all the emoting for you 😉

100-Layer Challenge: 100 Layers Of Chokers?!

❤ By Amy Tsai

By now you must have seen the plethora of 100-layer challenges on YouTube and the rest of the interweb, right? We’re talking 100 layers of nail polish, 100 layers of clothing, 100 layers of foundation, even 100 layers of hair extensions! So here at GoJane we decided that we couldn’t let the summer pass us by without doing a #100LayerChallenge of our own…

But with what? It had to be something no one else has done before and something we actually have a hundred of. And then we got it – chokers! The choker is, without question, THE accessory of the year, so we definitely had enough to do a 100-layer challenge or twenty. So we stocked up on seventeen of our Let’s Talk About Six Baby Choker Sets and got to it!

You might be wondering, why did we go with all the same chokers? Well, we totally could have included some lace ones, some extra wide ones, even some wraparound ones, but we had an inkling that maaaaaybe this challenge could actually be a wearable one? So that’s the second part of our challenge: Could 100 layers of chokers be something you could wear out? Let’s find out!

Ah. One choker. Just one can take a plain T-shirt to all new levels of coolness.

And here we are at ten. Kinda looks like a colorful statement necklace, right?

All the way at twenty-five now! Is it just us, or are you getting a super-chic French ascot vibe?

Oh, my goodness, here’s fifty! With a little bit of hardware this time. Why? Full disclosure: By the thirty-something mark the thickness was already getting to be too much, and we couldn’t clasp the chokers individually. So we began making chains of them and wrapping them around the rest…

Annnnnd that’s 100!!! Are we crazy, or does it not look that crazy??? Kinda like one of those sequined scarves, right? So here’s our conclusion: While you probably won’t wanna (un)clasp and wear that many chokers at one time, the layered choker look can actually be really cute! Give it a try and let us know what you think. We’re gonna go ponder our next challenge…

#Trendspotting: Shirt, Why Not?

❤ By Amy Tsai

While Labor Day may have begun as a tribute to the U.S. labor movement and the social and economic achievements of American workers, let’s face it. Today, most people just see it as a summer day off – a long weekend of cool pools, hot sales, and warm nights. We got to thinking… How could we blend those two ideas? And then we got it!

The classic button-up shirt, which has been a workwear staple for both men and women for decades now, is a wardrobe essential that has spawned numerous variations – high-low hems, shirt dresses, off-shoulder versions, etc. But two that we’re especially excited about are ones you could actually wear on Labor Day weekend. Just read on to find out which…

See something you gotta have? Click the item to shop it now!

Bow My Goodness – The latest in blouses? The cropped necktie top! This update on the regular ol’ button-down shirt is so flirty and feminine you barely get that it’s a borrowed-from-the-boys look. We especially love the ones with a big dramatic bow up front. The midriff-baring length paired with a form-fitting mini or sleek slacks would be perfect for a posh evening boat party.

Image Map

What A Sweetheart – If the necktie blouse is great for a hot summer night, this variation is definitely the “it” look for day. The strapless sweetheart silhouette looks like a dress shirt that has been twisted, folded, and pleated into a playfully chic, oh-so-creative top. Trust us, you’ll get plenty of sun on those shoulders and plenty of compliments from your friends and family.

Better Laced Than Ever: Lace-Up Heels

❤️ By Amy Tsai

In case you haven’t noticed, the lace-up shoe trend is still going strong. So strong, in fact, that there are a million varieties now – and we love ’em all! The lace-up heel in particular has never looked better, so we’ve decided to introduce a few of our favorite styles here today. Don’t worry if you’re not on the bandwagon yet. Just start now. Better laced than never, we always say!

See something you gotta have? Just click the shoe to shop it now!

Ballerina Dreams – No matter how much we wished for it as a kid, it’s obvious we all can’t grow up to be Misty Copeland. But just because you won’t be onstage in Swan Lake doesn’t mean your ballerina dreams have to end here. Just find a lace-up heel with flat straps that tie up the leg. The look may not be en pointe, but it’ll be totally on point.

Image Map

Detail-Oriented – Sometimes in life the little things count the most, so we don’t mind being a little “extra” sometimes with our shoes. If you’re a detail-oriented girl, we’re sure you can appreciate how plain laces and strings are being embellished with pom-poms, tassels, beads, braids, and more. ‘Cause let’s face it – it’s all about the details.

Image Map

Back Side View – While we love shoes with lace-up fronts, we can’t forget that some of these babies got back and side too! Corset-like backs and laces that run up the sides are two cool variations on the lace-up heel trend. ‘Cause you – and your shoes! –  have to look good from every angle. Get ’em walking into the room and again walking out.

Image Map

Web Design – We don’t know much about computer science and coding, but we do know what we like in web design. And what we like is web design…on our shoes! Having an intricate, caged, looped or webbed design turns up the volume on plain ol’ crisscrossing laces. They have the competition – and our feet – totally wrapped up.

Image Map

Chunky Town – Another shoe trend that has been everywhere lately? The chunky heel! Thin may be in, but the thick heel is totally far out. And we’re just crazy about the combo of lace-up and chunky. Something about the contrast of skinny laces and thick heels has us ready to book a one-way ticket to Chunky Town. Care to join us?

Look Of The Moment: Chokers Wild

❤️ By Amy Tsai

If we know one thing about fashion it’s that trends have a tendency to repeat themselves. And don’t think we’re complaining! The 2010s have seen a resurgence in seventies’ tie-dye, eighties’ acid wash, nineties’ crop tops…so many things worth revisiting. But there’s one blast-from-the-past accessory that’s more “it” than ever before. We’re of course talking about the choker.

Chokers are reappearing in so many forms right now – velvet bands, plate collars, floral lace pieces – but not always in necklace form. In fact, some of our favorite chokers aren’t necklaces at all but rather the attached collars on choker-look tops, bodysuits, rompers, and dresses! Today we’ve created some outfits centered around these pieces. Take a look and tell us what you think…

Gotta have it? Just click any item to shop it now!

Image Map

Tropi-Cool – This two-toned tropical midi dress already has a strapless sweetheart look, but the attached collar frames the chest in a way that really makes that neckline stand out. We tied on a breezy chambray shirt to tone down the dressiness and add a dose of casual cool. With a floppy hat and some pop-of-color heels, you’ve got an outfit perfect for any boat party.

Image Map

All Black Is The New Black – Let’s face it, no color will ever take the place of black. And until they invent an even darker shade, all black everything is the only way we can get enough of our favorite color. The choker and sheer mesh sleeves on this romper give it a dangerous vibe, so we’ve paired it with a sleek snapback, a cute clutch, and some femme fatale velvet stilettos.

Image Map

Work This In – Collar-look clothing can even be work-appropriate. Just go with a shallower neckline and work it into your work lineup. We tucked a choker blouse into a striped pencil skirt and added chunky buckled heels, a too-cool-for-school-but-not-for-work backpack, and a set of mix-and-match bangles. The best thing about this outfit? It’ll look just as good at happy hour.

Image Map

On Weekends We Wear Pink – We’d never go against Regina George, but we think a playful color like pink feels way more like a Saturday or Sunday hue. This collared rib knit bodysuit is the perfect base for a fun weekend outfit that also includes a denim skater skirt, lace-up booties, and a felted derby hat. Slip on a crosssbody purse, and you’re off for a weekend shopping spree.

Heat Wave: Must-Have Summer Dress Styles

❤️ By Amy Tsai

We don’t know about you, but dressing for the season right now means two things for us: keeping cool and looking HOT. And we definitely take both into consideration when it comes to choosing our summer dresses.

Today we’ve rounded up five dress styles that are totally must-have for those two reasons. So sit back, relax, and take a look! But turn on the A/C first. ‘Cause there’s a heat wave a-coming, and we don’t mean the weather…

See something you just gotta have? Click the dress to shop it now!

Two Can Play This Game – A two-piece dress is perfect for hot days and even hotter nights. A crop top keeps your belly cool, and a flowy skirt slit up to there can do wonders in both the warm-weather and legs-for-days departments. Team up with one of these sets, and you’ll win every time.

Image Map

Long For It – Is there anything more carefree and summery than a print maxi? We’re particular to strappy cut-out pieces for that effortless beach goddess vibe. Just be careful not to fall too in love that you wanna wear the same dress every day. ‘Cause the maxi has a way of sweeping you off your feet.

Image Map

Bare Tactics – Want your shoulders sun-kissed this summer? Here’s how. Step One: Get yourself an off-the-shoulder dress. Step Two: Wear the heck out of it! The off-shoulder look is undoubtedly the trend of the season and perfect for staying cool and slaying all. You know what else? No strappy tan lines!

Image Map

White Here, White Now – Has there ever been a better time for the little white dress? We and our thermometer think not. White is the new black when it comes to wanting a clean, sleek look for a hot summer night. In one of these LWDs, you can show everyone exactly what it means to be white hot.

Image Map

Glimpse And Glam – Peek-a-boo! Showing a bit of skin has never been more in. And it’s never more appropriate than during these hot summer months. Whether you opt for lace, mesh, crochet, or cut-outs, a sheer or semi-sheer dress can keep you feeling nicely vented while looking naughtily fantastic.

Too Cool For School: Chic Backpacks

❤️ By Amy Tsai

We may only be in the middle of July right now (we’ve got the heat waves here in LA to prove it), but believe us when we tell you that summer is the best time to back-to-school shop, whether you’re actually heading back there or not! And everyone knows what’s at the top of every list, jelly pens and perforated notebooks aside – that’s right, a new backpack.

Even if you won’t have a schedule of classes to attend and new instructors to impress come fall, our selection of cute, unique, fashion-forward knapsacks is gonna be pretty hard to pass up. They’re perfect for work, roadtrips, holidays, every day, etc. So get ready to take notes! We’re going bag to school with chic backpacks that are too cool for just school…

See a backpack that’s absolutely must-have? Just click the item to shop it now!

For an updated, sophisticated, even work-appropriate version of the backpack, you can’t go wrong with swapping out canvas for something a little more substantial…like vegan leather! You could do a classic design in faux leather or a sleek, sturdy, completely overhauled silhouette. Even a cool nylon knapsack with metallic hardware – perfect for your adult sensibilities.

Image Map

If you love the hands-free convenience of a backpack but don’t want the bulk, just opt for a mini! Faux leather works its magic here as well, turning a size and shape that could skew a little young into an elegant purse alternative with a childlike vibe. We love ones with subtle detailing, like tonal studs and stitches. You know what they say about good things coming in small packages…

Image Map

Our accessories are often times the statement pieces to our outfits, so why not choose a backpack with some personality! Throwback to your fave decade with nineties-inspired acid wash. Let the Fourth be with you all year long in an ode to the American flag. Or stay vacay-ready all summer and beyond with a tropical print. Whatever you choose, just know it (and we!) will have your back.

Flag This: How To Dress For The 4th Of July

❤️ By Amy Tsai

Happy Independence Day! Today is of course July 4th, and we’re hoping you have some fun things on the agenda. (Barbecue, brews, block parties, maybe?) But what will you wear to these festivities? If you’re like us, you’ll wanna be patriotic, but you’d also prefer not to look like a walking, talking, firework-watching American flag, right?

Well, we’re here to tell you – especially those of you trying to steer away from those super symbolic stars and stripes – that dressing for the Fourth is a piece of Barefoot Contessa flag cake. And that you can totally do the red, white, and blue thing without looking a bit like Uncle Sam in all his star-spangled glory. Don’t believe us? Here’s how!

Gotta have it? Just click an item to shop it now!

1. Chambray Away – Instead of a dark navy or a bold royal, why not make the blue you choose chambray? On a playful romper or paired with classic white jeans, this denim look gives off that fun, relaxed summer vibe, while the light material keeps you cool in the July heat. The result can only be described as radwhite, and blue!

Image Map

2. Two Become Won – Another way to tone down red, white, and blue is by completely muting one out! Just pick two of the three for a two-toned or colorblocked outfit that is as chic as it is patriotic, whether you’re going for a casual night-under-the-stars ensemble or a nineties-inspired slip dress and tee perfect for a picnic.

Image Map

3. Dye For Your Country – If you’ve got a tie-dye piece in a red- or blue-and-white hue, it’s exactly the one you should put on today. While you’ll still be wearing flag colors, the tie-dye distracts from the flag-color-ness of it all, takes it to a whole ‘nother level, if you will. We’d specifically go for a summery maxi or a firework-like motif.

Image Map

4. Star In Stripes – If you don’t want to veer too far away from the flag, we’ve got two words for you – skinny stripes. Thin lines are such a classic print that wearing red and white ones might not evoke Independence Day to the average passerby. Mimic those majestic stripes with a flirty candy-striper dress or off-shoulder top.

Image Map

5. Bare In Mind – And finally, if you decide to forgo striped or two-toned for a solid, monochromatic outfit, by all means! But we would suggest choosing something with a little pizzazz to break up the theme color – cut-outs, mesh insets, caged straps, exposed shoulders, etc. Something special! Today’s a celebration, after all…

Hot Stuff: 3 Must-Have Pieces For Summer

❤️ By Amy Tsai

This week we officially welcomed summer. (Okay, “welcomed” may not be the right word here. This SoCal heat wave is killin’ us right now…) Which means we can unabashedly wear our denim booty shorts and muscle tees to work and be like “(shrug) It’s summer!” if we get any weird looks from the boss.

But if you’re looking to step up your hot-day / hot-night style game, we’ve also got a few new and must-do pieces for this season. Hot stuff for you, hot stuff! So get your clickin’ finger ready – these all need to be in your cart like yesterday. Three days into summer, you’ve got no more time to lose…

See something you need? Just click to shop it now!

The Graphic Bodysuit – Statement tees are nice and all, but this summer it’s all about saying something with your body(suit)! We love all the sassy sayings we’ve been seeing lately, as well as the retro-cool Baywatch-babe high-cut silhouettes.

Image Map

The Maxi Romper – Is it a maxi? Is it a romper? All we know is it’s party in the front, pretty in the back! You can have that flowy goddess look while showing off your stems at the same time, not to mention keep cool as a cucumber while you’re at it…

Image Map

The Foldover LBD – Off-the-shoulder is everywhere this season, but we’re particularly fond of a Bardot cut with a foldover neckline. This completely bare-shoulder look can turn up the summer in any LBD, while the black keeps it as classic and chic as ever.

Summer Equation: Bodysuit + Shorts = ?

❤️ By Amy Tsai

If you’re like us, you want your summers totally fuss-free. With temperatures on the rise, it’s too hot to be running around putting together complicated ensembles. (Can we live?) At the same time though, we bet you’ve got an agenda full of hot-weather events coming up – bonfires, pool parties, even the occasional summer evening date, perhaps?

Well, the solution to all your outfitting problems is in this summer equation, and guess what, it’s totally foolproof: Bodysuit + Shorts = An outfit suitable for almost any event on your calendar this season. (And you thought you didn’t like math!) So sit back, relax, and let us walk you through three sample looks perfect for your summer schedge…

See something you like? Just click the item to shop it now!

Graphic Content  – Where better to wear a “Sex On The Beach” bodysuit than at the beach! If there’s a bonfire in your horizon, just slip into this graphic piece and some distressed jean shorts, and you can ride off into the sunset. We added strappy sandals, cool octagonal shades, a neon skinny belt, and a chambray cover-up for when it cools down at night. That is, if you let it…

Image Map

Outfit Of The Date – Got a hot date coming up? (In all senses of the word!) There’s no reason why you can’t wear some cute shorts instead of a dress or a skirt. We paired these adorable heart cut-offs with a plunging lace-up bodysuit to balance the sweet with a little bit of sexy. Just add a sleek clutch and some classic pop-of-color heels, and you’ve got your next #OOTDate.

Image Map

Tropical Thunder – There’ll be no stealing your thunder at your next swanky pool party, not with what you’ve got in your summer lineup. All eyelets will be on you in this flirty off-the-shoulder bodysuit and snug high-waisted shorts. Add a straw hat, quilted clutch, and tropical, lace-up, palm frond wedges, and your look will be even hotter than the weather. Tssssst (sizzle-sizzle)…

You’re Cut-Off: Denim Shorts For Summer

❤️ By Amy Tsai

Today is the first day of June, which means only one thing: We can begin our official countdown to summer! While most of us don’t get summers off anymore (now don’t you miss school?) there’s still a more relaxed vibe in the air during these warmest months. One that makes you feel like you can finally pull out those worn-in, sun-washed, can’t-live-without summer staples: denim shorts!

And while we love our old, faded, made-from-torn-jeans cut-offs, lately we’re also really feeling some other jean short trends. We’ve put together a few today that you just have to give a go this summer. Ready to take a look? Just read on…

See a pair you have to have? Just click an item to shop it now!

New Threads – What’s one way to snazz up some denim if you’re singing the blues (literally) about your too-plain shorts? Embroidery! We love both the placed print variety, with embellished pockets and applique-like roses, and the tossed print look – scattered hearts or abstract tribal-inspired motifs that look like jewels. These shorts are gems themselves, don’t you think?

Image Map

Long Story – Now, don’t get us wrong. We love short-shorts, daisy dukes, even cheek-baring high-cut denim “spankies.” But recently we’ve been seeing more and more boyfriend and bermuda shorts of the jean variety, and we gotta say… Super chic. Especially the destroyed, bleach-washed kind that you can pair with a plain white tee and nude heels and wear just about anywhere.

Image Map

Flag This – You might not think American flag shorts are your thing (who is that patriotic), but hear us out. Our two-toned stamped version or the faded vintage-inspired pair would be amazing at any music festival, not just a 4th Of July picnic. And when else can you rock the stars and stripes this fittingly, right? So we say, this summer, why not let your denim flag fly!

#StyleHero: Why We Love Basics + 3 Ways To Wear ‘Em

❤️ By Amy Tsai

We’re not sure exactly when the word “basic” became a no-no, but it seems no one is supposed to like anything basic anymore. (And you definitely wouldn’t wanna be called it!) But today we’d like to speak up for all those basic bitches styles getting the bad rap, because they’re ridiculously versatile, never off-trend, usually affordable – in a word, awesome!

Which is why we’re declaring it our #StyleHero for the moment and showing you three ways a basic piece can improve the rest of your wardrobe and thus your life. By the end of this we think you’ll be bowing down and calling yourself a basic bit-… Fine, maybe you won’t go that far. But you know what we mean. Let’s get to it. All hail the basic!

See something you HAVE to have? Just click the item to shop it now!

1. Sheer Genius

With super sheer, barely-there styles all the rage right now, you might be wondering how you could possibly get on-trend without displaying your undergarments for the world to see. This is where a good basic comes in. Just find a fitted jumpsuit or a leotard romper in your skin tone, and you’ve got a barrier between undies and world that is slick enough to not spoil the illusion.

2. Statement Maker

You can’t truly, effectively make a statement with a statement piece if you’re wearing other statement pieces that distract from it, right? Well, there’s nothing like a basic (but still bangin’) minidress or a sleek (but still chic) sweater romper to put the spotlight on your stems and whatever strappy / glittery / neon / absolutely outrageous statement shoes are holding them up.

3. Layers Club

In the warm-season months, you’re not gonna wanna feel bogged down by your clothing nor get caught coatless by an unexpected chill. The answer? Layers! Basics are generally lightweight and therefore perfect for layering, whether it’s a bralette under a blazer or kimono or a cropped tee peeking out through a cool bomber jacket. Light in weight but heavy on style, we like to say.

And guess what? Every single complete outfit is currently under $75! Yup, we’re talking head-to-toe looks – dress, shoes, jewelry, and/or accessories. Even bags! How can you beat that? Well, you can’t. So come with us now and take a look! Your next outfit of the day or night could be just clicks away…

Ballet / Symphony

If your significant other shows up one day with ballet or symphony tickets, first congratulate yourself on finding a both thoughtful and worldly partner and then put on this sweeping maxi, silver heels and earrings, and a cute little dog face ring for an element of whimsy on a sophisticated night.

Image Map

Black Tie Affair

Got something even more formal on the agenda? A plunging lace maxi is glamorous enough for a black tie affair but airy enough to wear on a warm summer night. Don’t forget to accessorize with a gold foldover clutch, dangling jeweled earrings, and simple but sexy strappy heels.

Image Map

Afternoon Tea / Garden Party

Whether you’re on your way to Grandma’s for afternoon tea or a fancy garden party with society’s elite, a floral fit-and-flare is perfect for the occasion. We’d add pops of complementary colors to the look, like sea green wavy-strap heels and not one but two kitty cat accessories – pink sunnies and an adorable ring.

Image Map

Boardwalk / Luau

You can’t go through summer without at least once heading to the beach or boardwalk. And this strapless maxi will whisk you away to a tropical locale – you’ll feel like you’re at a luau in Hawaii even if you’re really on the Jersey shore. Just remember to bring a vacation-ready tote, statement jewelry, and chunky heels to complete the breezy look.

Image Map

Boat Ride

If you prefer to leave the pier, we’d go with this continental-chic checked trench dress and chunky faux denim heels, perfect for any boat ride, whether yacht or tugboat! And a seafarer like you must also make sure to pack a nautical clutch and big movie star sunglasses. Although we have a feeling you will be shining brighter than the sun in this look.

Play It By Ear: DIY Chain-Back Earrings

❤️ By Amy Tsai

Spring is known for a lot of things: daylight saving time, festival season, April showers that bring May flowers… And of course, spring cleaning! Question: Have you gotten to your accessory stash yet?

We’re all guilty of hoarding jewelry that hasn’t been worn in ages and then buying more, right? Well, what if you could create new jewelry with the pieces you already have? That’s right, all you need are a pair of pliers and some old jewelry to create a pair of DIY chain-back earrings. Come on, let’s show you how!

What You’ll Need:

  • An old/unused/broken necklace or body chain with thin chain and small connector rings
  • Scissors
  • Pliers
  • Earrings of your choice

What You’ll Do:

1. Harvest the necklace or body chain for parts! (We found a broken body chain that was a goldmine – no pun intended.) Use scissors to cut a strand of thin chain and trim it to your desired length. (Ours was two inches.)

2. Using your pliers, remove two jump rings (those little round rings that connect chains and charms to each other), then pull one through each end link. Pro-tip: When opening a jump ring, pull one end toward you and the other away from you to create a coiled C. Pulling the ends apart in opposite directions could weaken or distort the ring.

3. Close the jump rings with the pliers by pulling the ends back toward one another. Now you have your chain, which can be worn with one earring or two, depending on your piercings!

4. For a single earring, loop one ring around the post, and insert the earring. Then attach the second ring behind the lobe and secure it with the backing. For two earrings, simply attach the second ring to the back of the second earring and secure.

But don’t stop there! Get creative with double-sided backdrop earrings, jacket earrings, hoops, necklace charms, and more. Take apart your jewelry and put it back together again! You can mix-and-match your way to an infinite earring collection. All by just playing it by ear…

You Nauti Girl: The Unsinkable Nautical Trend

❤️ By Amy Tsai

Tides are forever turning in the ebb and flow that is fashion, but one classic trend always seems to stay afloat, buoyed to our hearts, continually making waves, as ubiquitous as a lighthouse by the shore. Duh, we’re talking about the nautical trend! Last year’s resort collections predicted yet another rise in nautical details for Spring 2016…not that they’d ever really go away.

But lucky for us non-catwalkers, the nautical look is as easy as it is iconic. And the great thing is you don’t need an actual yacht party invite to look like you belong in the video for “I’m On A Boat.” Today we’ve compiled some tips, along with a few looks, to show you how to do this nautical thing right. (As if we’d ever steer you wrong!) So let’s just jump right in, shall we?

Nauti by nature? Click an item to shop it now!

The A-B-Seas

First things first, the basics. The three easiest ways to dress nautical? One, stripe right: Just put on stripes and you’re halfway to nauti land. Two, salute the flag: Wearing red, white, and navy takes you the rest of the way. And three, hit print: You can also go in a more literal direction with whimsical patterns like ropes, anchors, boats, and even lobsters!

Aye-Aye, Captain

The nautical trend evolved from 19th-century French naval uniforms, so you’ll find yourself in shipshape if you just emulate the seafarer at the helm of it all – the captain! A modified blazer (really anything with lapels), especially one with gold coat of arms buttons, will give you the sophisticated look of a worldly traveler…without the scraggly beard!

All Aboard

But you don’t have to limit yourself to the captain’s closet. ‘Cause we all know from Fleet Week that sailors dress pretty fly themselves, with those signature white and blue tie-front uniforms. You can follow suit with a pussy bow blouse, a scarf fashioned like an ascot, or a dress with knotted ties around the neck, sleeves, or waist.

Maritime Merry Time

If you’re worried about falling overboard into costume territory, we say just go with a romper. The cool, carefree one-piece (“romp” is in its name!) epitomizes that easy, sea-breezy beach vibe, and to really evoke the nautical element choose one with rope detailing, a flowy silhouette, or a vacation-ready halter. Accessorize accordingly, and you’ll be saying “Ahoy!” in no time.

Floral Support: Oversized Flower Prints!

❤️ By Amy Tsai

They say April showers bring May flowers, but to be honest…we can’t wait that long! Oversized florals are already everywhere lately, and we especially love them on articles of clothing that just scream spring – rompers and matching crop top sets.

So today we’ve rounded up some of our favorite floral print items, along with what makes them so special to us. We’re pretty sure you’ll find yourself sprung for at least one, but don’t be surprised if you end up falling for the whole bouquet! 💐💐💐

A Rose By Any Other Name: …would look as sweet! Classic long-stemmed roses make this a timeless print, but the vivid color scheme has all the pop you need to rose to any special occasion.

Draw Your Own Conclusion: Speaking of pop, we love the pop art quality of this retro yet whimsical print of cartoon flowers. The pattern may be simple, but it juxtaposes perfectly with the high fashion silhouette.

Stamp Of Approval: Don’t think you need color to make a huge impact though. This monochromatic tropical print romper transports us to some island getaway just like that. No passport necessary!

Sew In Love: Or if your trip is to Coachella, you need this embroidered Most Likely To Show Up Every Other Festival Look look. The pattern is cute, the dark background edgy, and the overall neon effect works for day or night.

All The Trimmings: There’s also something to be said for how well floral prints play with others. We love the way this particular flower, along with its complementary cultural-inspired pattern, gives off a perfect paisley effect.

Paint Yourself A Picture: When all’s said and done, you just want a floral print that will play you up as the masterpiece you are, and a soft painted flower pattern will do just that – allow you to blossom!

Sign Us Up: Your Spring Shoe Horoscope

❤️ By Amy Tsai

My name is NO. My sign is NO. My number is NO. You need to let it go…

Meghan Trainor will tell you. There’s no need to give out your personal info just ’cause someone you met in da club dropped you some cheesy pickup line. Although… We’d actually like to know your sign ourselves. But don’t worry, our intentions are good – we just wanna help you find your perfect spring shoe.

That’s right! Today we’ve rounded up twelve can’t-miss shoes, each one reflecting the traits of the zodiac sign it’s been assigned. So all you have to do is find your sign in the photos, then scroll down to read why that shoe is best for you! (Don’t forget to comment below to let us know how close we got 😉 )

Remember, all the shoes are clickable! Just give your fave a tap to shop it now…

Aries (3/21-4/19) – Only someone as courageous as you could pull off knee-to-toe rainbow! And anyone who objects? Your enthusiasm about these gladiator sandals will bring them over from the dark side.

Taurus (4/20-5/20) – A shoe with this many loops and laces requires someone as patient and dependable as you are. And that virtue will be rewarded with the two cutest little tassel ends…plus an easy rear zipper!

Gemini (5/21-6/20) – A clever girl like you knows it’s hard to dress down heels. Which is why you would opt for something adaptable like you and like these chunky black booties. Which are as chic with jeans as they are with a dress…

Cancer (6/21-7/22) – Loyalty is one of your best traits, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see you sticking to a tried and true classic like the pointy pump. And these stilettos will care for you like you care for everyone else in your life.

Leo (7/23-8/22) – It’s no coincidence that the word “leopard” starts with the word “leo.” Only a confident person like you could pull off animal print and do so in flats as chic and sexy as any pair of heels we’ve ever seen.

Virgo (8/23-9/22) – The ankle strap silhouette is super reliable, just like you, and being as analytical as you are, you know that these particular heels with the clear PVC panels will make your feet look amazing.

Libra (9/23-10/22) – You’re a social butterfly, so of course you need some going-out, having-fun shoes! These wedges will not only be a topic of conversation, but in them you’ll achieve the balance you’re always looking for.

Scorpio (10/23-11/21) – A passionate girl like you needs a passionate color like this. While hot fuchsia may be a difficult color for most, you’re resourceful enough to know how to pair it with almost anything in your closet.

Sagittarius (11/22-12/21) – You pride yourself on your independence, which is why you don’t need no man or woman to carry your stuff for you. Your idealism pays off when you find that these boots have a pocket perfect for your phone.

Capricorn (12/22-1/19) – You’re responsible enough to know that you can’t wear heels all the time. But that doesn’t mean you’ll just accept any ol’ flat or wedge either. It would have to be something ambitious, just like you…

Aquarius (1/20-2/18) – The humanitarian in you will love that this pair promotes nature. It also has your originality – whoever thinks of putting all of a shoe’s detail in the heel? Actually, you probably did.

Pisces (2/19-3/20) – You’ve got a wild imagination, but even you couldn’t have pictured these intricate gladiator heels. Just have some of your signature compassion when someone asks where you got them. And tell them!

Color Of The Moment: We’re Blushing

❤️ By Amy Tsai

It seems like ever since Pantone released their twin Colors Of The Year for 2016 (a baby blue named Serenity and a baby pink named Rose Quartz) blush tones have been everywhere in fashion. We don’t think we could think of a better spring color if we tried.

So today we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite ways to wear this heavenly hue –  appropriate for the season, of course. Check ’em out and comment with your fave below! We’re pretty sure with one look you’ll start to think pink too…

See something you like? Just give it a tap to shop it now!

The Minidress

Your poor legs have been cooped up all winter long. It’s about time they got some sun! What better way than in an impossibly short micro mini? Before you know it they’ll have that rosy glow. You know, to match your rosy cheeks and your new rosy dress.

The Bodysuit

Now that we’re peeling off all our winter layers, what we’re looking for is that tucked-in look without any of the tucked-in bulk… Bodysuit to the rescue! Just throw on a pair of cutoffs or skinny jeans and you’ve got yourself an instant outfit.

The Romper

Is there any article of clothing more fit for frolicking than the romper? We think not! There’s a reason it’s also known as a playsuit. Whether you opt for a rib knit turtleneck or a floral halter, your look will be as fun and flirty as it is fresh. Perfect for spring!

#LeapDay: Looks Before You Leap!

❤️ By Amy Tsai

We know there are certain trends you’ve always been dying to try. Well, when better to take the leap than on #LeapDay, right? Check out these three now-essentials that are totally worth the risk. And do it today – you can’t afford to wait four more years!

P.S. Everything is clickable! Just tap on your fave to shop it now…

The little black jumpsuit is every bit as versatile as its classic counterpart, the LBD, and comes in just as many variations. Just one go in any of the following will make you see that jumpsuit is the new black.

The Glad Heels

The gladiator heel combines two things that accentuate your stems – straps and stilettos. And when you see your legs in these babies, you’ll know why we’re calling them glad heels.

The Free Frames

The partial (or non-existent!) frame lets regular ol’ sunnies break free into a look that is somehow both retro and futuristic. With the sun starting to come back into your life, we think it’s about time you let yourself be free too – frame-free.
