By the way, everything should be in New Styles soon.

Microtrend: Nautical

Confession: we were going to introduce this post with lyrics from “I’m On a Boat,” but we were worried that some of you wouldn’t know the song. Anyways, today we’re crushing on all things sea-inspired. Why? Because summer’s just around the corner, and we also got some totally rad stuff in. Check it out, deal?

1. cut-out seahorse charm necklace, 2. anchor helm charm bracelet, 3. dangling starfish earrings, 4. anchor star two-finger ring, and 5. boating flats

By the way, if you wanna test out a new hue, head on over to GoJane- tons of sweet shades, as well as all the tools you’ll need for the perfect pout.

Five Things Our Lead Stylist Loves

Confession: we spend a lot of time chatting with our super cool lead stylist about her fave things. Why? Because she has wicked taste, and she always knows what’s going to be hot way before it hits. Today, we’re showing you five things she’s loving right this minute because, well, you wanna know, right? Right.

We still haven’t been able to get enough of the trend, so we had our lead stylist pull four deep cut tanks to tide us over (for now). Take a look at her picks and let us know how you plan to wear deep cut tanks this spring.

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Peplums, Neon, and Cropped Tops

We’ve already told you approximately a million times how excited we are for the prospect of warmer weather, and now we have tons of new stuff to wear to celebrate the rising temps! Plus, our stylist pulled together tons of cool looks perfect for a summer concert, a night out with your girls at your fave bar, and even a few jaw-droppingly sexy outfits for when you wanna impress your beau. Want the versatility of a neutral, but with a bit more attitude? Us too! That’s why we’re loving metallics right now- they not only go with anything and everything in your wardrobe, but they instantly up the luxe  of any look. Happy Birthday, Kat Von D

True story: one of the GoJane writers’ mom had Kat Von D as a student in the eighth grade. And while Kat didn’t have any tats at the tender age of thirteen, she did have plenty of talent. We guess it shouldn’t shock us that the now famous tattoo artist showed plenty of promise at an age when most of us were more concerned with pizza than careers. Anyways, happy birthday birthday, Kat Von D!

Microtrend: Party Perfect Platforms

It’s not a secret that we’ve been seriously crushing on single sole heels, but don’t think that we’ve forgotten about our BFF, the platform heel. Check out our stylist’s top five picks for platform heels, and make sure to let us know which pair of sky-high platforms you’re loving.

1. buckled reptile finish platforms, 2. embellished platform pumps, 3. colorblock strappy platform heels, 4. star accent heel-less platforms, and 5. cut-out platforms

Check out some of our other fave shoes here.

Inspiration Gallery: Deep Cut Tanks

Need a cool girl staple to take you straight into late summer? You could try something classic, like distressed denim shorts and sandals, but we prefer to add a little edge with a piece that’s equal parts basic and unexpected. What is it? The deep cut tank. With armholes that brush the top of your jeans, deep cut tanks are the perfect antidote to a winter filled with coats, sweaters, and cardigans. Another perk? They’re plenty versatile- keep ‘em sporty with a brightly hued bandeau or add some sex appeal with a lace bralette.

How to: Do an Understated Smokey Eye

You know we love us wild, boldly hued makeup, but sometimes we crave something a bit more practical. Recently, one of our MUAs showed us how to do an understated smokey eye on Kouwai, and we loved the look so much, a few of us ended up doing it that night for an evening out with the girls. Anyways, check out this super easy tutorial, and make sure to let us know what you think.

What do you think? Are you a fan?

Inspiration Gallery: Snapbacks

We’ve been feeling snapbacks for awhile (as seen here), but today we’re going to fully embrace the look with a totally rad inspiration gallery.  We especially love how snapbacks can easily go from girly to grunge, as well as how they instantly elevate your look.

If you’re digging the look, check out all of our totally awesome choices.

Happy Birthday, Ke$ha

With plenty of tracks guaranteed to get the party pumpin’, along with an aesthetic based almost entirely on the idea that the more glitter, the better, Ke$ha is the kind of girl we’d totally want to party with. Plus, we think she’d be rad to spend the day with scavenging our local thrift shops for leather jackets and bodysuits reminiscent of Jane Fonda circa 1983. Today is the songstress’s 26th birthday and as such, we’re celebrating with tons of photos.

Are you a Ke$ha fan?

PS: Did anyone see the most recent episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race? One of the contestants dressed up as Ke$ha- that’s some serious cultural legitimacy, ya’ll.

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Big Ballerina Buns, High-Waisted Denim, and Plenty of Skin

You already know we’ve been on a serious 90s kick, and we decided to keep the good times rolling with cropped tops, high-waisted denim, and lots of gold bling. Take a look at our most in-studio photo sesh, and let us know what you think, deal?

What was your fave pic? Why?

Inspiration Gallery: 90s Style

Have you noticed all the cool, early 90s-inspired stuff on the GoJane site? We’re doing it big in cropped tops, high-waisted acid wash jeans, and of course, lots of plaid. When it comes to figuring out what we’re lusting after, we’ve been taking our cues from pop culture- think Never Been Kissed (starring the lovable Drew Barrymore), old issues of Tiger Beat, and re-runs of TRL. Anyways, check out our ode to all things 90s, including images from the period, as well as a few modern interpretations, and make sure to turn up the Savage Garden while you do it.

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Bodysuits, Graphic Tees, and Plenty of Giggles

Two of our goofiest models spent our most recent shoot in slouchy, deep cut tanks, Victorian-inspired bodysuits, and boldly printed leggings. Between the posing and preening, there was also plenty of purchasing; cries of “I want this!” and squeals of, “Oooh, I’m getting this, too!” punctuated the sounds of remixed Top 40 blasting in the studio. Anyways, check out the latest and greatest, and make sure to let us know what you think.

What was your favorite piece?

Look We Love: Model Off-Duty

It’s not exactly a secret that we have an obsession with achieving model beauty, but lately we’ve been digging the off-duty style of some of our fave models, including Karlie, Cara, and Freja. After poring over tons of images, we’ve discovered that the ideal off-duty uniform consists of a menswear-inspired jacket, skinny jeans, and booties perfect for walking all day (and night). Of course, some of our fave models totally break the uniform rule, as you can tell by this totally rad gallery. Anyways, check it out and let us know how you get off-duty model style.

Are you a fan of this look?

Quick Tip: Apply Lipstick with a Brush

Confession: we spend a lot of time watching our resident MUAs in action in hopes of picking up tricks for the perfect pout, mile-long lashes, and a clear complexion. The other day we saw our MUA carefully apply a bold fuchsia shade with a lip brush, and we have to admit that we were seriously impressed by the incredibly precise lines and staying power. The secret? Applying lipstick with a brush and not straight out of the tube.

Do you apply lipstick with a brush or straight out of the tube?

Looks We Loved from New York Fashion Week

Elegantly draped and tucked cocoon coats at Oscar de la Renta (with a little help from John Galliano), curly, full hair at Marc by Marc Jacobs, and plenty of leather. Yeah, we were loving this year’s New York Fashion Week, and we had one of our stylists pick out some of the looks she thinks you’ll totally love. Take a look and let us know what you think, deal?

2013 Grammy Awards: Our Predictions for Music’s Big Night

Unlikely anthems, possible one-hit wonders, and Skrillex? Yeah, this year’s Grammy Awards managed to cover all their bases. For those who aren’t in the know, this year’s awards will take place this Sunday (yes, we’ll be doing a recap) and LL Cool J is hosting. Other important info?  Jay-Z and Kanye West managed six nods each, Gotye is still riding high from last year’s “Somebody That I Used to Know”,  and some of our fave divas, including Adele, Jennifer Lopez, and Katy Perry, will be in attendance.  And while we know who will be there, as well as who’s nominated (check out the full list here), there is something we don’t know: who will go home with a trophy. But we do have some pretty good guesses. Check out our predictions and make sure to let us know who you think will win.

What do you think of our predictions? Who are you rooting for?

Inspiration Gallery: Destiny’s Child

Did you guys hear that Destiny’s Child is reuniting for the Superbowl? Would you dare to rock the ombre lip?

Behind the Scenes + Sneak Peek: Punchy Corals, Bold Snapbacks, and Pops of Color

We should have known our most recent in-studio sesh was going to be fun: our resident makeup artist decided to play with color by adding a sweep of purple under our model’s eyes. Keeping with the bold color theme, our stylist decided to pair rich mustard with ivory, a true red hat with stark white, and oh yeah, she made sure to add lots of unexpected hues, including fuchsia, aqua, and coral. Anyways, check out some of our fave shots and let us know what you think.

Inspiration Gallery: Light Denim

After seasons spent wearing crisp and structured looks, we’re quite happy to slip into something a tad more casual. One of the best ways to do it? Light denim. It’s a super modern way to do denim, and it’s perfect for spring. Check out our gallery of stylish ladies in light denim and let us know what you think.

How to: Two-Tone Polka Dot Nails

Remember when our model, Emily, showed us how to do a spooky blood spattered nail for Halloween? We were so impressed by her nail prowess that we’ve been trying forever to get her to do another tutorial. We finally convinced her to share some nail genius with us, and she came up with one of our fave designs yet: a two-tone polka dot mani. Not only is the color palette perfect for spring, but the look is surprisingly easy. Wanna learn how to do it? Start reading.

Happy Birthday, Michelle Obama

With her penchant for bold hues and flirty prints, Michelle Obama is a modern day fashion icon. At 49, the FLOTUS still manages to impress us on the daily, and we love how she’s always willing to wear her fave looks repeatedly. Anyways, happy birthday, Michelle Obama!

Want in on Michelle Obama’s awesome sense of style? We suggest shimmying into a sheath dress and a pair of classic pumps

Inspiration Gallery: The Half-Tuck

It’s probably pretty obvious that we spend a lot of time reading fashion blogs, and maybe that’s why we’ve noticed a trend that is sure to be huge in 2013: the half-tuck. Everyone, from It Girl bloggers like Leandra Medine (of The Man Repeller) to the queen of chic, French Vogue’s editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt, are always spotted rocking the half-tuck, and we think it’s time to get in on the trend.  And the best way to get started? By checking out our rad gallery, obvs.

Four Trends for Spring Guaranteed to Get You Noticed

After months of thick, chunky knits, carefully layered coats, and utilitarian boots, it’s time for a change. And the best way to do it? Florals, lace and crochet, pastels, and ombre/ dip-dye.  Our head stylist said that these four trends are gonna be huge for spring, and as an added bonus, we put together a mah-jor inspiration gallery to get your creative juices flowing.

Inspiration Gallery: Single Sole Shoes

Still struggling to think of the perfect New Year’s resolution? We’ve got one for you: add more single sole shoes to your wardrobe. We know it’s probably not difficult for you to agree that you need more shoes, but one of our fave trends is the return of single sole heels, wedges, booties, and boots. For those not in the know, single sole shoes are shoes without a hidden platform. And while you won’t be able to reach the heights you can in a platform, single soles offer a few other perks. Specifically, the silhouette feels brand new after seasons of platforms, and we’re loving how ladylike they look. Still don’t believe us? Check out our inspiration gallery of single sole shoes- after seeing some of your most beloved celebs and style bloggers rocking ‘em, you’ll change your mind.

Style Crush: Natalia Kills

With thick smudges of eyeliner and mile long legs clad in leather leggings, Natalia Kills’ style is equal parts sexy and dangerous. Oh, and covetable because let’s face it, we kind of want to own her entire wardrobe. And, just in case you haven’t heard of the talented British songstress, check out some of our fave images of Nadia, as well as the five pieces you need to get her look.

1. liquid eyeliner, 2. faux leather jacket, 3. spiked faux suede boots, 4. double chain necklace set, 5. faux leather lace-up contrast leggings

Trend Alert: Lions

Remember when we were all excited because we realized how freaking easy it was to copy Rihanna’s look? Our fave piece of her standout look was a chain link necklace with a lion charm. We should have known that the Barbados beauty’s fierce accessory was a hint as to what was to come. Specifically, lions are kind of a big deal this year, and as such, we had our stylist pick out six pieces that are super hot right now. Take a look and let us know what you think, okay?

1. oversized lion hoop earrings, 2. faux leather lion bracelet, 3. lion ring , 4. tribal square lion necklace, 5. embellished cap-toe flats, and 6. lion ring

What was your fave piece? Why?

Inspiration Gallery: Military-Inspired

Now that the holidays are over you might find yourself feeling a little blah. But we have the perfect antidote: military-inspired pieces, including camo print jackets, combat boots, and super cozy tees in unassuming hues (think olive and camel). And the best part of this trend? That a small accessory or a simple jacket can instantly elevate your entire look. Anyways, take a peek at our gallery of military-inspired outfits, and let us know how you’re planning to do military this year.

Did you see anything you loved? Are you feeling inspired?

More or Less: Suede Booties

Chances are you’ve seen your fave fashion bloggers preening and posing in the perfect pair of suede booties. Below you’ll see two perfect pairs of booties, both of which would work with everything from skinnies to minis. But there is one glaring difference: $500. One of the booties featured is currently retailing for $545 and the other pair, from GoJane, is a doable $21.70. Take a look and let us know which pair of booties you think are from GoJane and which cost the big bucks.

Inspiration Gallery: New Year’s Eve

We don’t want to pressure you or anything, but the year’s biggest party is less than a week away. And while we know that that this is the perfect time to bust out all your sequins and metallics, we also want to encourage you try a few other things, including  leather and graphic tees.  Check out all of the possibilities in our massive gallery and make sure to let us know what you’re planning to wear for New Year’s Eve.

Quick Fix: Denim Jumpsuit

Remember when we were seriously bragging about Rihanna following our lead stylist on Instagram? A few of you were asking about Andie’s denim jumpsuit, and guess what we just got in? Hint: it begins with ‘A’ and ends with ‘ndie’s denim jumpsuit’.  Wanna snag this must-have piece? Click here.

More or Less: Polka Dot Pumps

Need an excuse to kick up your heels? Well, we’ve got one for you with these polka dot pointy toe pumps. Below you’ll see two nearly identical shoes, both sporting a fun and flirty polka dot print, but with one mah-jor difference: the price. The designer version of these shoes costs $350 whereas the GoJane version costs a modest $30. Take a look and let us know which version is designer and which version is GoJane.

Which shoe do you think is from GoJane? To find out, click here.

More or Less: Gold Ring

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that it’s the little things that have the biggest impact. If you’re not convinced of the power of all the small things, we suggest spending some quality time browsing our Shop By Outfits and reading your fave style blogs. A common theme? The importance of accessories. So, as you can imagine, when we saw this gold statement ring by an old couture house we were smitten. The only issue? The $300 price tag for something that we may end up losing next time we grab post-work cocktails. Fortunately GoJane has a nearly identical version for a mere $13.10. Take a look and let us know which ring you think is from GoJane and which ring is designer.
