Ready girls? We’re about to show you how to get those bodacious buns you’ve been seeing all over the runways and on the tele. Big, voluminous, larger-than-life hair buns (what did you think we were talking about, naughty girl?) used to be reserved for girls with long and thick hair. But thanks to the clever use of a simple tube sock, girls with fine or shorter hair can also rock this ballerina-babe hairstyle. Take a look at our picture tutorial below and we’ll show you how GoJane Writer, Emily turned her teeny-weenie, sad bun into a pumped up masterpiece. No steroids professional hairstylist required!
You’ll need: hairspray, a comb, an elastic hair band, scissors, bobby pins and a long tube sock.
Tips: the longer the sock, the bigger the bun. Choose a sock that best matches your hair color for better blending.

Cut off the toe-end of the sock.

Roll the sock into itself until it looks like a donut.

Gather your hair into a ponytail at the very top of your head & secure tightly with the elastic hair band.

Wrap the sock donut around the tip of your ponytail.

Secure your hair to the sock donut by wrapping the end of your ponytail around the donut and tucking it into the center.

Start rolling the donut down with your hair, while spreading your hair around the exposed parts of the sock.
Keep rolling until your bun is sitting on top of your head. Spread your hair around to cover any part of the sock that is still visible.
Tip: this is where choosing a sock similar to your hair color comes in handy.

Use bobby pins to secure the bun to your head.

Spray lightly with hairspray & smooth down flyaways with your fingertips.

Voila! Now you can rock big-ass buns without anyone knowing you’re a sock stuffer!

Give the sock bun technique a whirl and let us know how it worked out for you!

Saw and tried a new product called the Hot Buns! it makes it so much easier to put your hair in a bun and it stays in place with no bobby pins!
I thought this was played out, we use to do this to our hair like 15+ years ago, well as they say time repeats itself……….
They sell the same thing in Claires Accessories!
My only advice would be to try and find a sock that matches your hair color in case you have thinner hair or have a hard time getting your hair to spread around the sock! ^_^
Wowsa! This is awesome! I’m about to go DOUBLE sock bun my hair! Whoo!
SUPER CUTE!!!
